Driver seat motor
Hey guys,
My driver side power seat gave out this evening. It tilts and goes up and down, but does not move front to back. Could this be that the motor has gone? Anyone know exactly how to go about fixing this. Thanks

Hey guys just an fyi. I have a 2000 max se auto and my passenger seat stop moving forward or backward. My buddy use to work for nissan and he is a stud on the real. So I stopped by his pad told him what was up and he said that it is a possibility that the wire sits on top of the track and sometimes gets slighty cut. So i tried to mess with my today. I removed 2 front bolts on the seat and the two on the left hand rear side but could not find the other bolt so i found the wire and played with it a little and my seat started to work again. sorry this is a weak explanation but for thos whose seat is not going forward or backward it's prob not the mother just a sliced or nicked wire.

Just curious if those with the forward/back problems also use the "exist assist" feature that automatically moves your seat back when you remove the key from the ignition?
I've been after my wife for years to stop using that feature in fear of it prematurely wearing out her seat motor. She's 27 years old and weighs under 100 pounds, so it's not like she has trouble getting out of the car without it. In my Corvette, I keep the same feature turned off for the same reason.

I have the same problem with my drivers seat and you can tell if it is the motor or a wire by pressing/tapping on the motor that moves the seat forward and backwards. Easiest way to do it is to sit in the car and reach down with your right hand toward the bottom left of the seat and gently pull up on the motor while you move the switch with your left hand. OR you can do it without sitting in the seat. Take a look under your seat and you'll see a silver looking drive motor with a nylon/plastic tube coming out of it. If you push up or tap on the motor and push the switch, you should find that the seats move. Read this TSB, it tells you what to do. page 2....#4

Sorry for tagging onto this thread with a 'somewhat' related problem, but as a new member, I am not allowed to start a separate thread. Here's my situation:
I have a 2004 Maxima SL (about 63,000 miles), with basically all options
except the moonroof. Last week I found that when I tried to move the
driver's power seat forward, it moved on the right side, but not on the
left. I couldn't see anything mechanical obstructing it. I brought it into
the Nissan dealer, and they said they had seen problem with some cable or
something not feeding power to one of the motors on both Maximas and
Pathfinders.
They checked my vehicle, and this is what they found. Unfortunately, they
explained to me that they had no way to replace just that cable, and so I
had to buy a complete "seat slide/motor kit" (PN 87451-5Z50A 427.86). This
was going to cost over $400!! And with the labor, tax, etc., the total bill
would come to well over $600!!
This seat problem was discovered the day I returned home after having
another repair with very disproportionate cost. The turn signals and
headlights weren't working intermittently. The repair required a $221
"Controller Unit" (PN 284B7-7Y02A). I authorized this, and after
installation, they said they also needed to replace the "Switch Assembly"
(PN 25540-AM620), for an additional $99.96. So it cost me $426 for a couple
of electronic glitches, which was infuriating enough.
I was outraged, as you might imagine, and asked him to do nothing yet about
the power seat problem. I called Nissan Customer Service, and explained the
situation. I explained all of this, indicating that I had been happily
using Nissan vehicles continuously since 1990 (had a 300ZX Twin Turbo for
quite a while!), and was generally pretty happy with their reliability, with
repairs being at a reasonable cost when necessary. But the cost to fix a
couple of minor (to me) electrical functions, at over $1000 was simply
outrageous. They basically refused to do anything about it, and didn't seem
to care when I indicated that this would likely be my last Nissan vehicle,
if this is the type of reliability and repair cost I can expect from Nissan.
Obviously, I needed to vent somewhat, but I'm also looking for any practical
suggestions about how I might get a cost-effective fix for the power seat
problem. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone feel like they're driving a European car with all these electrical issues? Ghosn can take it where the sun don't shine.

Anyone know how much the part kit cost for a 2000 I30? I'm assuming its the same for the 2002 but just wanted to check to see if anyone else needed to do this for their maxima or i30. Gee's is there no way to just fix or repair the motor or the relay switch or whatever?
Thanks for the help,
CHucky.

Has anyone ever thought that maybe the auto reverse (thing that makes the seat go back automatically when you turn the car off, if your car has it) wears out the electric motor? I would think that it would cause the motor to burn up much quicker since it is constantly moving the seat back and forth every time you get into and out of your car.
#33
Yeah, that is probably what happened, I really can't complain since Its been over 110k and 7 years, but I still would like to know how to move the seat up to get to the rear bolts if the power motor is not working!
