Here are the pictures from the race...and I think I'm finally figuring this out!! The old pros couldn't believe how good the maxima was doing at the race...

You can't see it but I was told my right rear wheel was 6" off the ground in the 2nd pic:

Wow! Can you get an RSB in the class you race in? If so, do it! Keep that tire on the ground.

Hot Damn! You did pretty good there, boy-o. Do you have a layout of the course configuration you can scan in and post? I'm curious what the track looked like/distances/etc. Also, how did the other classes fair? What were they driving?

I can believe you about your tire being off the ground 'cause I just did the same kind of deal last weekend and the same thing happened.

What a RUSH, eh?!!!

Here's a composite pic I put together of my day (more pics at my site).

For the next one in the fall, I'm armed with an RSB!

Maybe at a higher rate of speed but I ran on a smaller course so the speeds weren't that high, although the corners were VERY sharp.

o damn, im scared. i would think the tires break loose before a maxima with nice suspension would roll over.

Nice show Hawkdog! I looked at the overall event results. You drove the snot out of your max since you beat that GTI and Scooby running race tires. Nice job against the '99 BMW "M" too! (I wish we had Rookie classes here in Chicago - hard to trophy)

Definately get that RSB and any other mods you need - STS class allows for alot of changes.

Be aware but don't think too much about the rollovers. That Philly incident 2 weeks ago was a combination of stock susp, race compound tires, and driver error. If you skid bad forget the run and don't try to correct for it.

Rcticmax...

I attached a scan of the course to this post. Those pics were taken in that long sweeping corner at the right side of the scan. If you want to check out all the results go to www.rmsolo.org and they are posted there. I'm definitely making the RSB the next mod for my car...I can't wait for it.

I really wasn't worried about rolling at all...it didn't even feel close. I think it would take some real effort to roll the maxima.

Hey... thanks for the scan. I'm bummed 'cause your course looks so much more fun than mine was.

Cheers! Here's to hoping we can get more .org members out to these things!

Oh, yeah, boy-o! Think about it... you're throwing one big-@ss spring underneath your rear-end which is going to absorb a boat-load of the body roll that comes from having soft production springs.

At least this is the theory. I'll tell you how it goes when I run again in September. But on the road, so far so good. Almost like being on rails *coughineedcoiloverscough*

Cheers!

cool - it's good to see a few Maxima guys autocrossing. I've yet to see one here in the local SCCA races over the last year!

guys - you shouldn't have to worry about rolling the Maxima. In the Street Touring class where street tires are required, it's highly unlikely unless you do something really stupid during a turn. Slap on some R compound tires THEN you increase the chance of rolling over on a stock suspension.
