Power Steering Leak - how to repair?

Power Steering Leak - how to repair?
my power steering fluid is leaking at the point where the T-connector is located near the strut. Specifically, the leak appears to be coming from the large hose connected to the engine side of the T and that is crimped on.
I'm not going to attempt the repair because I don't want to deal with the high pressure system. UNLESS it can be fixed without doing that.
But, what is the proper repair? Is it just replacement of hose? Or does the entire T connector need to be replaced? It doesn't look like the hose is easy to replace or if it can be replaced, it looks like I need a special crimp tool.
thanks.

I had that same thing happen the me a few months ago. I constantly had to top off everyday. The culprit on mine's was the halfway point between the two ends of the p/s presure hose. Mine had a crimp connector too. The new one I ordered from DaveB was a continuous piece. It took no less than two hours to replace it. The hardest part for me is the space between the engine and firewall is very narrow. Connecting the top "T" and the bottom banjo nut was easy. It was the damn bracket at the halfway point that gave me the problem. I just loosened the clamp on the new one and reused the old bracket. Remove as much of the fluid from the reservoir. Loosen banjo nut and catch it in a drip pan. Remove the old one, replace with new. Make sure you replace the copper crush washers as well. Don't forget to bleed the p/s. Good luck!

Same Prob...
I Had Mine Going On 2 Weeks
Ive Been Chating With A Guy Under The Noobs Section On This
So You Do Need To Replace The Presurehose?
What Part Is Leaking?
Because Mine Has Fluid Coming Out From Under The Overlay Hose Right There Up By The Strut. Where Does This Leak Usal Come From?

Found out the shop is trying to charge me 280 bucks for the entire assembly. Jackaases.
I checked and you don't need the entire assembly. Dave says 140 in 2 days. Even the local nissan stealer has the part available for 200.
I'm hoping they haven't started, I'm going to tell them to stuff it and I'll do it myself.
EDIT: They actually did the right thing and agreed to charge me the stealer price. Of course, I now regret not having made the repair myself.

Mine gushed fluid AFTER I shut down the engine - more so than leaking while driving, although turns made it pour pretty badly. I suspect that it usually leaks when the system goes off and the pressure in the system is relieved.
Anyway, that's one of the reasons I had mine fixed. It was leaking pretty bad, smoking nicely, and I wouldn't have been able to fix it until this weekend at best.

I should be receiving the hose today in the mail. Mine is really leaking bad. I have been topping it off with power steering fluid stop leak every 3 days. You barely squeeze the hose and the fluid just pours out.
If you have more than 100K on your 5th gen, keep an eye on this hose if you haven't replaced it already

I am getting a leak from the same location as in the picture that maximadave posted in replies 18 and 19. As he mentioned, if I move the foam covering or whatever that is around it, fluid pours out. I was told that I would have to replace the Power steering pressure line and that it was $200.00 with $170 labor. Does this sound right or should I continue to look around?

I just posted a thread for this because I didn't see this particular thread. I'm having the same problem. I'm topping off everyday it seems. The hose pictured in #18 and #19 is leaking really bad which I didn't notice until yesterday. If I'm correct this repair should be about $300?

I just replaced mine. When I got to work yesterday, I noticed my car had a little bit more smoke coming out from under the hood than normal. So I walked back and popped the hood and took a look down. Seen a flame or two down there, my first instinct was to blow it out. (Probably just gave it more oxygen) but it went out, then came right back a few seconds later. So I ran inside and filled a bucket with water and ran back out side, dumping the water in the general area.
Luckily that was all. Needless to say, I EO'd (Early out) from work that day and went straight home to replace that hose (had the hose in the trunk, was just dreading replacing it)
I never did put that center piece back on though, looks like it's pretty much useless anyway. The hose seems to naturally flow in that direction anyway. All the work I did took me right around 1 and a half hours total. (transmission fluid change, oil change, p/s hose replace, battery replace)

ok smoke wow
So i guess that is my issue as well. Is this common I just did valve cover front and rear. Now this. It drips all over cat right? I noticed also the bushing in control arm look like crap because of oil and reservoir is way low. So yes no this should be it right?

for 119 it better have a lifetime warranty and be the revised version that isn't crimped but, is one continuous piece like mentioned above because it can be had for around 40 bucks.
EDIT: or maybe not.

Bringing this back up
I just started having a leak on the power steering.
Brought it to the shop and they said it was a pressure switch.
They wanted 197.00 for the switch.
I found it for 93.00 at a local Norwood Auto parts.
Has anyone had this problem?
Is it easy to swap out?

power steering question
Hey quick question regarding power steering...
I recently got my drivers side inner and outer tie rod replaced and they told me that I had power steering fluid in the tie rod boot I checked the level of the fluid and it is a little bit low. They said that the rack is leaking could this just be a hose, crimp or a seal? Or something worse? The steering still feels fine aswell
Thank you for reading
