Left speaker and Bass goes in and out

So my left speaker and bass goes in and out, the speaker goes in and out ONLY when I play CDs. I took it to the dealership that I bought the car at and told them that when I bought it it's been like this, they told me it would cost me $400-$450... What should I do? I don't want to waste that kind of money on something that is stock.

instead of pulling the ribbon out a little, I suggest you putting some layers of Scotch tape on the back of the ribbon where it goes in to the socket to get more presure to the connection.

Sounds dumb...and I thought the same thing...but it works....take your hand and smack the side of the console the head unit is in. I do this once a week, works everytime.

Been searching for the sweet spot to smack and get it working since I got my Max on Friday. Not much luck yet... but the search continues.

I had the cut out for some time, it didn't happen too often and when it did, a quick smack fixed it. Eventually it was really bad, it kept cutting out wayyy too often, so I ended up giving up on it and swapping the deck..You could do the ribbon fix or keep smacking it, but I'm much happier with the new deck..I was sick of 6cds anyway.

I smack it right about where my right knee touches the console on the left side of it more towards the back.

Yeah, I just got my car and like the stock look of the interior but I LOVE my music so a new deck may be in order. Just worried about ruining the look of the center console with something that may or may not fit well.

Someone told me about a core program that Nissan does. Apparently the 5.5gens had alot of BOSE headunit problems. You give the dealership your headunit and $300 and they give you a "new" Bose headunit. Anyone else heard of this?

yeah that's what I did.. my d3 looks pretty good compared to the stock system..of course it's not 'perfect' but looks much better than a single-din would have

That stiff suspension will screw up that connection every single time!

^good point, I'm sure that my stiffer suspension caused my bose deck to go out at times it otherwise wouldn't have..something to keep in mind if u have stock bose and considering new suspension setup

how about you gimme $30, I fix it for ya.
I have open it and fix it twice, not really difficult. I used my way to fix it at the last time, and it's been working without any cutting for 8 months.

2003 Nissan Maxima sound goes out

My boyfriend's car's sound goes out only when you play CD s. He's been hitting it to get it to work again, but it got worse. Took it to the Nissan dealership and they replaced the radio for $269. The sound still goes in and out. Is it the CD player connection? Radio mode works fine, so I don't think it's the speakers...

It's a ribbon in the radio itself. I would take if back to the dealer.
