how many quarts of oil for 5.5gen engine?
my mechanic says it takes 4 quarts so he put 4 quarts accordind to his computer specs. I am just curious to know if it really takes 4 quarts cause when i had 01 maxima it used to take 4 and half quarts. Can anyine verify this? thanks.

how you check the dipstick? i mean the oil level has to be right on the cold spot or between hot and cold temp? and to get the accurate reading do we check the oil level when the engine is cold?

fully warm up the car
shut the car off
pull the dipstick and wait for at least 10 minutes
put the dipstick back in and pull it out for readings.

i am not sure if it says hot/cold or high/low i havent checked it since months, but i believe the transmission dipstick does have the hot and cold points but not too sure about oil dipstick.

The manual says 4 5/8 with filter change I buy 5q and use the extra 3/8 to flush the last of the old oil out of the pan I'm allways amazed how dirty the new oil looks when I do that its just as black as the old oil.

I buy 5 qt jugs. When I change my oil, i put in 4 1/4 quarts which gets it to the full line. Then about half way between my change intervals, i put the other 3/4 in which gets me to my next change.

yes its perfectly fine unless you live in canada where its -1,000,000 degrees all the time
HDEO offers better resistance to shear (something quad cam engines are good at) and better protection from its additive package. Its the oil of choice in the 3000GT/Stealth community based off of many UOA and the 6G72 Turbo is a lot harder on oil than the VQ is. The only thing that's better is Amsoil and Redline at 4 times the cost.
