DIY Mess Up

Background: Installed a new starter in my 2001 I30, and severed the cable that lays across the top of the starter (in this case got caught between the starter and housing). Engine turned over, but the Engine Control Fuse #2 blew. Removed starter to discover severed wire.
Questions: Is this wiring cable (red/blue/yellow), that originates in the front of the motor (not sure where the other end terminates; ECM?) available for replacement? Can these wires be carefully spliced (solder + shrink wrap)?

Thank you in advance!

I would just solder them like any other wire. One end of it will eventually go into the main harness so you'll end up soldering somewhere anyway.

For the most part, plugs and wires are only available as the entire engine harness. The only way to get a part of the harness would be to go to a U-Pull it yard and get it your self. Even regular junk yards wont cut up a harness.

Thanks Derrick2k2SE. I crawled under the vehicle tonight and discovered the other end of the wire disappearing into the rear motor mount. I had figured it was part of the main wire harness. Prepped one end of the braided wiring tonight, the other will have to wait until next week. Appreciate the response.

Merry Christmas!

You don't want the motor mounts plugged in. Unplug them and you're done.

Yup. I didn't realize it went to the mount. Unplug both of them and be done with it.

Project complete! Reinstalled the starter, spliced the wires, reconnected, installed new fuse, and drove it off the ramps. Thanks to all who responded.
