How can I make my car perform better?

My car is a 2002 Infiniti I35 Sport. Correct me if Im wrong but isn't my car the equivilant of a 5th gen maxima? with "a few extra buttons"? And what are the easiest ways to make my car perform better currently everything is stock. Oh and if you could include the prices of how much each mod would cost that would be great. Thanks!!

300 is way to much for an intake in my opinion

@ ABlackSER .. please don't get a Injen CAI.. its not COLD AIR at ALL! the pos sits behind the radiator and is hot almost all the time, it's a joke. I would get a Pop Charger from Jim Wolf Technology... check it out. If not make your own SRI .. you can literally get all the parts from Advance Auto Parts.. then buy an AEM Filter (Part # 21-209dk) with a BPi Velocity Stack (http://www.bpinitiatives.com/stacks.php)

GAB is free, NWP block plate is $40. I'd start there.

The '02 I35 is a version of the 5.5 gen Maxima, not the 5th gen.

NWP VIAS block-off plate ~$50
NWP intake manifold spacers ~$225
Headers - $350ish
3" cat-back exhaust - $300-700 depending on choice...

Tune on UTEC/Technosquare ($400+) or S/VAFC. ($150-$250)
(You'll need a wideband sensor to tune the car - $200ish)

And Suprastick transmission controller - $350

I can't believe people are still recommending Injen intakes like they know what they're talking about. Please don't get an Injen!

Seriously, NmexMAX's is the best advice. You learn more, and it's far more rewarding when you make your own decisions. Reach out to the Org with specific questions. It just works so much better for everyone all the way around, including you.

Your desire is familiar, but your approach needs tuning.

You've got the equivalent of a Gen. 5.5, and the "Sport" package gives you the upgraded suspension and bigger rims/low profile tires making it identical to, or very close to a Maxi SE......don't waste your money at this point on any mods that might give you marginal gains at best. If it's time for suspension components be very careful buying non OEM and aftermarket units.......always specify you've got the "Sport" upgrade.....or you could be disappointed. Enjoy it for what it is.

God I remember those days. You had to rig google to search this site only and that barely worked back then.

Oh and to help the OP. You need to decide how much modding you want to do. If you want something moderate go with a intake, again not injen. Get a short ram intake(warm air intake) and a y-pipe. You can get away without tuning for those but it will always be recommended. If you want to get a little more serious then that go with headers because they will include the y-pipe and give you even more horsies, add to that a cat back. Tuning is needed with this or you will be running pretty bad. on the 3.5 engine the NWP spacers are a great and relatively cheap mod that will get some more feel from your engine, and again as mentioned the VIAS block plate will shift around the powerband for you a bit.

Again, decide how much you want to invest and go from there. Do it right and don't skip. Some mods will require other mods to have them function correctly. I.E. Headers with a tune.

...because quality aftermarket suspension parts are better? Dude, you're going to mess this guy up.

OP, this is why you need to do your own research on specifics. If you ask for wide open advice, you get subjective responses like this.

All mods are incremental. That's the point. That's what makes it fun.

We all go lambo, eventually. It's the natural evolution for a mid-market, 4-door sedan.

And now this thread can officially go in 12 different, but equally silly directions.

Might be fun. Might be dumb.

OP, in what way do you want your car to perform better? Thinks about this before you search.

^^^ There's a little button on the top right-ish part of the screen that says "Search". It's super useful and will tell you all you need to know about the block plate and just about everything else that is commonly discussed
