you will also need some wireing harness that feed the trans info and info to tcm from trans.. the 5 speed auto's are very expenseve to rebuild compared to the 4 speed auto's. the 5 speeds have major valve body problems. the valve body solinoids are not sold seperatly so you have to buy the whole valve body assy.around $850 from dealer

Here's a link to the same question which I posed long ago. It has some interesting replies including simulations which show a very minor performance gain.

here's the thing about the 5spd tranny, it's not a real 5 gears transmission, it's a CVT, the 6th gen went away with the traditional auto tranny. They put CVT, that's why they don't even offer 5 spd or 6 spd manual. So why would you want to go to a CVT? Only way you can get a real automatic, is the 7spd, offered on the Z and found on all Infiniti.

Are you sure, i recall it was CVT, that's one of the turn off, when they rolled in the 6th gen in 2004 since I remember they had put the technology on the flagship car.

Yes.
First 6gens ahd a 4AT or a 6MT
After a few months, they went to a 5AT and kept the 6MT
so most 04-06 are 5AT or 6MT, with a few 04s that have a 4AT
in 07 they went to the cvt
and the 7 speed auto is for a longitudal motor and won't fit in a maxima
