Catch Can Vacuum Leak

Catch Can Vacuum Leak
Sorry if this is a duplicate posting but the original didn't seem to take. Installed a "Husky" catch can (Home Depot) and can feel vacuum on the drain nipple. Yes, the stopcock is closed. Are these cans designed to handle pressure not vacuum, and is that why there's a leak, or think I may have gotten a defective can?
For now I put a vinyl cap over the nipple. Already about half a teaspoon of oil in the can after only 50 miles, which seems like a lot!

So, thinking I got a defective can, bought another slightly different "Kobalt" one from Lowe's. This one has a brass drain fitting and nipple with an internal spring, and it too passes air unless you pull down on the nipple against the spring. Let go and it leaks. Others are complaining about leaks with the Home Depot "Husky" can (which I installed).
I believe these cans are set up to work under pressure, not vacuum. Folks should be aware that it their cans are leaking through the drain, then there's unfiltered air (unless you left the can filter in) going into your intake manifold!
I see these solutions for the cans. 1) for the "Husky" can, put a cap over the nipple or plug it up with something. 2) For the "Kobalt" can, since air leaks around the nipple and a cap won't work, need to unscrew the drain assembly and replace it with a solid brass stopper. Won't be as easy to drain though.

i have the husky home depot one as well. i replaced the drain valve on the bottom with a nut and bolt and put a dab of caulk on it to seal the up. Works perfectly now. Previously with the valve on i could see air bubbles in the oil from the leak and some would be on the frame. Changed to the nut and bolt and solved the problem.

Is the drain in the Husky filter threaded or just a press-fit? The Kobalt one is threaded, and its drain is set up stay closed under pressure, not vacuum. We're not exactly using them for their intended purpose.
Have only seen a few complaints about these cans leaking. Wonder how many folks out there have these cans and don't know they leak?
