Fan/Blower noise on 2002 GLE

As the weather has gotten colder I'm getting an intermittent humming or growling from the heater. It goes away, especially if you turn the heater off and right back on. What's going on?

Blower motor, pretty easy to get at, just need a phillips, remove glovebox it's right there. Check it for leaves/debris and put a new climate filter in it first, probably need a new motor though.

thanks, figured it was the motor, but hoping it was something else.

I just fixed one for $35 with a junkyard blower.

I purchased a new TYC blower motor (~$50) from ebay a few years ago and it's still running strong - just another option if you can't find one at the junkyard.

I'd clean out the spot where the cabin filters go, mine was making noise so I got new cabin filters for it and cleaned a ton of debris out of it.

I've had this happen on different cars from time to time. My guess is some debris gets caught around the blower and ultimately clears itself.
