Gathering engine cover ideas - Creative ones step inside

I have a few aesthetic mods left to do before the Max hits the showroom floor
I was looking for some ideas for a custom engine cover. Let me know if you have anything in mind.

I was leaning toward some sort of creepy design on it, tying the picture to the turbo or something to that nature.

Right off the top of my head, I'll say that the engine cover NISSAN burger looks better when the lettering is red. Particularly with the red braid you have going on.

Also, you could paint the 4 engine cover bolts a different color, to work with your color scheme.

i agree with the above.

I would also stick the theme of your car. Jet black engine cover with red alone the outer edge chrome/silver V6 3.5 and the the NISSAN emblem the Rochester mentioned.

Using your Photoshop skills and when you have a chance, could you draft this up for me? Black cover with V6 3.5 in red letters and red letters on burger? Thanks

I'd be happy to, Roy. PM me with a link to a high-res photo of your engine bay where the burger is clear and in focus.

Ive got no photoshop skills haha but it would look cool if you follow your hood as a guideline...the raised up part of the cover could be black with red pinstripe outline and the lower section silver like your car. Then do whatever to the letters and it will all flow.

This is a good idea. Customize your engine cover to match what you have on your hood. Black in the middle, outlined in red pinstripe, and silver on the sides. And red lettering in your burger... don't forget that!

I've seen pictures here in the 5th gen forum of engine covers in 2-tone. It's a pretty good look.

lol What do you mean before it hits the showroom floor? And +1 on that red theme. Would look amazing on your car with your current scheme.

This is hard to explain so bear with me lol. I wish I could just PS it but again...no skills with that program haha.

So, you see how the part on the engine cover is raised up where it says V6 3.5 and has the burger and oil filler cap? Well outline that part with a red pinstripe...just like your hood. Now, fill in that area with the black like on your hood. The rest of the cover paint the silver like on your car...Do up the burger with red lettering and maybe red lettering on the V6 and 3.5 too done. Ill see if my GF can PS it up tomorrow..shes a graphic designer and a wiz with PS...come to think of it, I should have her teach me to do it lol.

i copied you a long time ago lol. mine came out okay,..its really dirty too.. maybe one day ill paint it..but.. you guys are forgetting the best part about this one though.. allowing the engine to vent better, getting more airflow over the top of the engine .. potentially cooling it down

So here's your engine cover as it is now:

And here's a rendering to approximate what was discussed... a theme in keeping with your exterior color scheme, and that painted hood. The graphics effort could be better (lots better), but you will probably get the general idea.

You know, OT and not exactly helpful... but that nismo cap is annoying off-center. Is there any way the cap can be adjusted so it's level?

can you make the V6 3.5 in all red or black w/red outline?

that would look awesome.

That's the main purpose of me modifying mine. For more airflow while still retaining the cover.

Add some red to the V6 3.5 and straighten out that Nismo cap, and you've got yourself a winner. Nice job maintaining the theme!

Here is mine used metalic silver base put the nwp stickers on sprayed blue pulled the stickers off and gave it a dusting of the metalic silver from about 2 feet away and cleared it. It came out looking like a nice metalic blue color with real clean painted in NWP logos.

I've seen some nice versions. One on Cardomain had an airbrushed dragon on it with lots of other nice details. There was another that was air brushed that looked like a metal plate with lots of smaller sheets of metal riveted together.

I've been thinking about doing some painting on this cover myself.

Deckedout: Any chance of replicating this peice of art for other .orgers?! :hint-hint:

Either way: Subscribed.

Thanks everyone for your input. I like the hood scheme a lot; however, I may go with a lighter hood this summer. I also like Deckdout's idea with the ventilation holes as well. Hmmm......

I love the Org!!!

EDIT: The engine bay looks a lot better without the red loom. WTF was I thinking??

Troublemaker.

It's not so much the black center... I find that rather unique, and in keeping with his trunk lid, which is definately cool and unique. It's the red pinstriping that makes me think twice. If the pinstriping were a shade of blue, maybe? Granted, these aren't the opinions the OP is looking for. Sorry, Roy.

the airbrushed dragon was chernamx's 6th gen IIRC.

Knight indirectly poses another option, which is that the 6th gen cover is a direct swap, in case you wanted to go that route.

Um, the previous post?

However, search the 6th gen forum on "engine cover" and go crazy. Personally, I don't care for the way the 6th gen cover hides the intake runners, but to each his own. Different is cool, sometimes.

This one is particularly clean:

While undeniably busy, there are elements that I really like here, too. Particularly the chrome MAXIMA SE emblem. I like the 4DSC decal too, but I'm obviously biased.
