I just bought the app and an ELM 327 linked at the end in page two. I have the 2* timing advance already done, but I'm going to do this to my buddy's Nissan Titan. It will be nice to use the app for future diagnostic as well. Thanks for posting this.

True, but it would be nice to be able to retard the timing to troubleshoot to see if it improves.

So this doesn't work for the 2000? I thought the ECU was the same for 2000-2001.

So, at the moment this will work for any Nissan 2001 to 2007 according to the App description. Has anyone tried this on a 6th gen Maxima or any other Nissan's? I'm assuming the developer will make this work for a more wide varety of makes and years, and then they'll update our app?

Perhaps I missed something skimming this thread, but your car is OBDII, why won't this app and Elm dongle not work on your '99?

I have AN app and dogle, and it works fine. I just can't advance timing or change anything. I can monitor, but not change.

The special app that lets you change timing that was referenced is good for 01-07 according to an earlier post

I advanced mine today. Took awhile to figure out the ins and outs of that app but got it done. Showed -1 degree of timing to start. Advanced it to show +2 degree. Did anyone else show -1 degree to start?

Mine showed -1 to start. Just changed it to +2 and been driving her all weekend without any problems. (I also verified the timing advance with Torque Pro).

That is what the app states, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on any obd2 Nissan. Any guinea pigs? It is my understanding that 4th gens don't hold the timing advance though, if I read that correctly in another thread.

CauzinDrama, you got a reply from Isaac. Cannot retard RPM, apparently not supported by our vehicles.

I'll admit that I'm slacking and need to still get him a debug of timing. Anyone want to play with the list and try 254 and 255 to see if it retards timing by - 1 and - 2? My schedule is crazy right now. I'll try to do it on my break today if nobody gets to it.

Update ur app man. If you update then go to adjust timing and look at the "list" you can now - 2,-1,0, +1,+2... I haven't tried it as I haven't had time either....

I'm also trying to get issac to debug my connection issue. I keep getting a time out or no response message across my screen....

I just did the update, it works. At -2 it bounces from 13-14 degrees.

You doing idle air relearn at operating temp? That might be your issue. I was getting the same at first back when I first tried it with this app (before the Rpm and timing adjustments were added) but then I was successful after doing again after a drive.

I have tried with the engine at operating temp. I also got a p0507 "idle higher than expected" code. Which s why I want to negative the RPMs. I'm still idling around 900

For those that ordered a ELM 327 from ebay how long did it take to show up at your door? Mine says its coming from China.

Hmm. I'm up in the 820-850 range. Will Idle Air Volume Learn or Idle Rpm Adjuster reduce idle Rpm to normal range? Has anyone used the app for this and was it successful?

EDIT: Just checked the FSM. Idle speed: MT 625 +-50rpm. AT 675 +-50rpm. Mine is still too high so I will try the app and if that fails the manual pedal dance.

Does anyone know of a program for a computer to advance timing? I've had an adapter for the longest time but don't have an android.

If you have bluetooth on your computer maybe using an android emulator would work. I think the official one comes with the android sdk. You would have to get the app still though and I don't think you can use the play store on the emulator so you'd be looking for the latest apk file. I understand this is probably a bit much for someone who hasn't used android, but I just figured it was a possibility. Also you could get a cheap android phone or mp3 player on ebay and just use that.

So to recap I have an idle of around 820-850. With the car off I tried the Idle Air Volume Learn option of the app and it gave me a Successful response. Unfortunately when I started back up the idle was still 820-850. I then used the manual pedal dance. Upon start up the idle went to 675 but as soon as I restarted it is back to 820-850. Both methods seem to be working initially but the idle just won't stick.

Do some searching around about idle air relearn. You may find the thread I referenced earlier about pulling the battery cable right after you do it. This supposedly is needed for it to stick. But in drama's case, I don't know. Not sure if the code he's throwing has anything to do with that or not.

thank you for finding that thread, that last post is the same exact is what's going on with me, plugs spacers high idle code. seems like I need to have my car down for a day or two in order to fix this. Hard to do when you're working 65 hours a week 6 days a week.

I'm going to try to do the idle relearn then disconnect my battery for the day today while I'm working. I'll report back my findings.

Could one of these dongles cause a code? I got mine today and I ran a test in Torque Pro and it found one code. I looked at my dash and the "check engine" light was on. P0300 - Ignition System or Misfire

Not to my knowledge. I've never had a code pop up because I used a dongle or a code reader. Coincidence maybe.

So I have two LG Enlighten's at my disposal.

Can I purchase this:
http://www.simvalley.us/elm327

and the car gauge pro app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...GaugePro&hl=en

and advance my timing?

for about ~25 bucks total you cant beat that!

I have an iphone4 now. I searched and found the same type connectors and apps available for it, but nothing that says out right that it can adjust ignition timing. Anyone know of anyone using an iphone for this same purpose?

Just make sure your elm327 has kwp2000 capabilities. Whether for iPhone or Android. Wish I could help from the Apple end, but my wife got rid of her 4S to get the Galaxy S3.

For what it's worth, I never found an app for android that did this when searching and searching. I had this app for a while and one day the developer just pushed the function through because it was requested.

When connecting select these: Nissan, ECM (gasoline), 10 (should be the only option). Go into OBD Menu and select Self Test. There you will find the relearns and adjustments. I also keep my protocol on Auto and have no issue. Could always send Issac a debug log if you're having issues. Follow the link I previously posted and tell him about your issue.
