IAC valve replacement

Hello fellow Maxima owners, I just replaced my idle air control on my '01 Maxima at 180k miles. With the new IAC installed the engine runs perfectly and idles normally. My question is do I still need to have the dealership Re-Flash the ECU. I have read that if this is not done, the new IAC will be ruined. Thanks for the help!

lol, i think you're getting something confused here

if the ecu didn't short out from iacv failure it should be fine. if your ecu shorted out and you had to replace it, you would need to have your new one done at the dealer to work with your keys-

maybe by reflash you mean do idle relearn procedure? there's ways to do that without the dealer, one being disconnect the battery fora few days. the other being read your fsm for more info. i don't believe your iacv is in any danger if this isn't done tho, just have higher than normal idle

Drive on.

No reset needed.

If you have an automatic, unplug your electric motor mounts before it causes problems.

I disconnected electric motor mounts. Does it matter if they are left in "soft" mode after disconnecting them? Seems to idle more smoothly...

Best to rev and hold the engine at 1k RPMs to keep them in firm mode when disconnecting.

You don't want soft mounts when you're driving.
Obviously you would need a helper for this as you never want to move the throttle body with your hand.

interesting, I never heard of unplugging your motor mount for the idle air control valve to sort of relearn. I seen the harness in my front motor mount, thankfully I haven't had any issues yet, *knock on wood* as I hear horror story about those who had bad motor mount shorting out their ECM

disconnecting the motor mount is not related to the iacv or idle relearn. it's just a precaution to avoid what you stated at the end of your post

To the OP, did you buy OEM or just an aftermarket IACV? I'm looking at replacing mine as well. I was starting to show symptoms of it going out last winter, so I'd like to get it done before cold weather makes its way down here.
