4300k

I do a lot of nighttime driving so I want the best possible light output in front of my car.

I'm actually using 8k and have been for about 4 years and still am. I can actually still see very well without any issues for me at all. Just anything less than 8k is perfectly fine. If your car comes with housing you'll want to get it retrofit or get upgraded headlights. Just don't use housing you'll glare the **** out everywhere and also you can cause front-end accident. I'm using retrofit on my 01' Max. I still don't have retrofit for fogs... really don't need it tho. :/

Hey! You stole my ideas! ^ I got this exact setup right now. Whats the yellow bulb you're using dude? Mine is Hella and it looks way more deep yellow.

Best light output = 4300-5000k
anything above that you will be "cool and blue" but output and functionality go down drastically.

IMO, pick function over looks. Or, you can always be one of the people with "those blue lights" that everyone hates on all the time

The FX-R 3.0 are running Morimoto 5five 4300k kit, and the Mini H1 6.0's are running Morimoto 3five 3000k kit.

Ahh the good ole days. I remember when I didn't know anything about HID's. Go on google and look up kelvin temp related to HID's.

I love my 5000k HIDs. The Infiniti Q50 has LED headlights that are actually rated for about 5500k because its the whitest color and mimics daylight the best.

So what is the factory color in the 03' SE HID? Does any one know? I just acquired a 03' Maxima with factory hid lights. I have no clue. They look great though. Thanks for any response.

Does anyone have a fav or recommended site for bulbs? I would like to try the yellow 3000k in my fogs and some new replacement high beam bulbs.

I got 3k's fogs and cheap "Slim HID" $20 ballasts off eBay; they were green as hell! I was very disappointed till I was messing around one day soon after and pulled an old DDM metal boxed ballast I had laying around (honestly forgot I had em) and hooked it up. Same hid bulb, nice yellow! Just buy em on eBay but stay away from the "slim ballasts" you'll see listed (in my experience). Good luck...

By the way my first hid kit in 03 I bought used for like $600. Back then it was a very unusual sight to see. They've been on a GXSR bike, 2 maxima's , and still running strong!

I'm doing the project right now. I'm going with 6k. I purchased a Kensun kit. Only have two things holding me up. After reading about thin wires, I decided to drill out the back of the fog light caps as opposed to splicing. I just need to figure out a way to seal the caps now. The other more difficult problem was my car was in an accident before I purchased it and rather than dropping serious money on a new engine harness, they decided to not have a driver side fog light. Hopefully I can find the wire and splice into it. I found the connector that was missing on a website. Anyone have experience with replacing fog light wiring?

personally I'd stick at 6000k. Seems to be the sweet spot for looks and visibility. Does depend slightly on what brand you're getting...

HR.com has some pretty good photos of different temps

Regular driving lights = 6000k
Foglights = yellow
sidemarkers = white

it looks kind of odd tbh
