2003 3.5 engine coolant temps, ALT bolt size
I have two simple questions...
What is the max safe coolant temp for the VQ35? I replaced my radiator yesterday due to a leaking top tank and have been keeping an eye on the temp using Torque. Sitting in traffic I'm getting around 195 - 201*F and around 208*F on the highway with the AC on. It's summer and I live in the desert where afternoon temps are typically 100*F +.
I'm also looking for the size of the nut that goes on the large alternator mounting bolt. It's missing, and with the AC or headlights on it makes a terrible racket at idle as it vibrates slightly against the mounting point.
Thanks in advance...

My 3.0 engine runs between 180º and 200º in city driving. When it gets up to 200º, the radiator fans kick in and cool it down to 180. And the cycle repeats. So what you are getting seems about right with the a/c on. As for a highway number, I have never checked it.
Sorry, I don't know the nut size for the alternator.
