it very well may get worse too. my parents borrowed my car and for some reason the high idle either started or momentarily got worse for them but, it was idleing at like 2500 but, after sitting fora month with the battery unplugged it has settling at 1500 rpm but, it's weird freaky deaky thing.
so first tips are check/replace PCV vale and probably the hose too i bet it's rock hard after all these years.
Idle relearn.
clean throttle body.

Thank you for the replies. The dummy light is not on but I will scan for codes. I had no idea there is an idle relearn procedure. I did just replace the battery, alternator, and the starter which have nothing to do with the idle.

Are you sure? because the computer relies on those parts to provide it with electricity. it could just be glitch after having changed all those parts.

I was just starting to search for the idle relearn procedure. The alt was in for a few weeks but the starter and battery just was installed after the car went stone dead. Wierd issue that I just learned is common for these cars. My car runs great w/ 113k and I own it for 9 years. Anyone have the link for the idle relarn?
