Thinking about buying headers!

I have a 02 maxima with 220k miles an the catalytic converter needs to be replaced. So I'm thinking about buying a set of headers instead. Because I think it will get rid of my cats that way not really sure exactly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

So Im gonna go with the obx headers. I can't wait an see if cattman comes back.

Header are pretty much "plug and play", no tuning necessary but you will throw codes. An O2 simulator is recommended to pass many state emissions/safety requirements. To get max performance you will need a tune.

Also be conscious of the cost- most shops will give you an 8 hour estimate (which is complete BS) or you can go through the pain of installing them yourself.

Finally, be sure to use the OEM gaskets. All-in-all, even with OBX, you're gonna spend some cash, but the gains were well worth it if you ask me.

Yeah I'm gonna use a local shop I use a lot they are going to only charge me 3 hours labor. An we don't have emmissions in my town so no worries there. But I will need to find someone to tune it After I get them installed.

Get a SAFC and tune yourself.

It is cheap and opens up great opportunity for even greater gains. (larger intake/injectors/etc). But all that will begin to cost more and more. Depending on how much gains you are after.

Can't you reuse the bolts or do you mean rod bolts? You need to take the engine out for that supposedly due to how cramped the engine bay is

No I'm buying headers an new exhaust for my car. Been looking for Stage 8 locking fasteners but haven't found anything for the 3.5s so just asking for opinions on other bolts for the headers so I don't reuse the factory bolts off the manifolds. I hear they tend to back out over time an cause exhaust leaks.

Nissan doesn't have a problem with exhaust manifold nuts loosening like domestics did B4 MLS gaskets....if you want "peace of mind" just order new exhaust manifold nuts....
