After market intake and exhaust for 03 automatic
Is it worth getting an after market intake and exhaust for a nissan maxima 2003 se automatic?
Is there a huge benefit other than looks and sound? and what kind of improvements do i gain than keeping it stock
sorry I am a noobie still with cars, I have been driving my car stock for a few years and always wonder if it is worth doing minor upgrades
Edit: my car is around 89k miles now

The stock exhaust is pretty quiet, but I personally love that sound it makes when you have a nice exhaust and really get on it. After doing the GAB intake and getting wider tubing catback and a better muffler it feels like the car breathes a lot better and is able to get going quicker. But that's all based on the butt dyno. It's ultimately preference and final goal that should dictate you decision. Do some searching too, you'll find a lot more useful info already posted in threads then you will asking for it.

personally I've thought of doing it but that lame sliding into gear noise from the exhaust is just horrible on most aftermarkets

Intake and exhaust is a nice addition even to an auto.
An aftermarket exhaust system does not have to produce drone. The issue is that most come with an inadequate resonator. You really need to spend a bit more and have a good sized resonator added on to complete everything. There are lots of posts describing the pain that is the drone (esp. in automatics) and the solutions.
