magnaflow Y-pipe difference
Hello all. Im looking at buying an 01 Maxima and he claims that the flexpipe is bad. I THINK that means that it needs a new Y-pipe? I found 2 from Magnaflow. Can anyone tell the difference? I did a search and i didn't find anything that made sense. Also the round part in the short tube (back cylinder back) is a Cat?

If he said flexpipe...then its a smaller joining component between the exhaust pieces. Its the meshlike weaved pieces that are commonly called the flexpipe. An exhaust shop can weld a new flexpipe into an existing setup. A badly worn/torn flexpipe results in an exhaust leak....hope this helps.

Oh i understand what he meant. Im just not fimilar with the underside of a Max. The pics that i saw looked like the following. And if the car is in the Northeast then i assume that it will not come off the car without cutting/breaking bolts, so i figured that i would be ready to replace all the old stuff that was removed.
