Shocked at What I found Today
I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima that I purchased used in late December 2009 with about 82,000 miles, currently at 228,000. I decided to change the spark plugs today, all went well until I got to cylinder #5 which was the last plug I had to install. Removing plug #5 I had no issue, installing this plug is when I found the plug wouldn't seat correctly and came back stripped... I tried to install the old plug only to have that one come back stripped as well. Trying to figure what the problem was I looked down into the spark plug tube only to find a broken plug in there... How could this be? I've changed the plugs on the car since I've had it at least twice with out any problems and the car ran well except for in the winter with what seemed to sound like low end engine knock... Now I'm hoping that my mechanic can get this plug removed and tap in some new threads.. Im still shaking my head because I know I didn't break a plug off in there...

Thanks for the tip.. I didnt break off the plug though, its crazy that I've been driving around with a plug on top of a plug for all this time. I brought the car in 2009, coil pack seated fine during the past 2-3 spark plug changes, no stripped plugs either.. Im still trying to figure this out, there was an occasion were a shady mechanic had my car in for a alternator repair. This shop is no longer in business due to his drug problem.. Im sure Im going to loose sleep over this problem...
