My Maxima running Nurburgring (video)

My 2002 SE 6 spd is mostly stock with the exception of a GReddy Exhaust, a CAI, and a Stillen Strut tower brace up front. This was my first time EVER on a race track and this is my daily driver. If you're totally bored jump to 5:50 and watch the Nissan Sylvia drift in front of me and then shoot some fire off his tailpipe.

All in all a really great fun time, 27 Euro well spent. (~$30)

I'd spend $30 every day and drive that track.

Autobahn is good too...

The autobahn is good for hard straight line acceleration and top speed, but the track has no speed limits on curvy roads with no oncoming - different driving style. I had to drive 1.5 hours almost all Autobahn to get to the track so it's the best of both worlds.
238 km/h = 148-149mph.

Also, Autobahn drivers aren't always expecting a car to be moving at 140mph and will pull out in front of you to pass a truck, so the track is much less risky in that regard since everyone is actively engaged in 'race driving'.

Nice...I'm envious. One of my dreams to take a high performance car on a track like that, not saying the Maxima is high performance, but you know rent a car and take it out there.

OP, do they offer any car rentals for the purpose of taking on that track? Just curious...for my next trip to Germany.

Yes, they do rentals! Price increases as performance goes up. They also do lessons and ride-a-longs with Pros.

Great post Phantasm. I second what you said about track totally different from autobahn or street. I spent 11 years in Germany and loved driving there. Never had a car with as much power as Max, but drove the **** out of every one I had there. Went to two super bike schools on the new ring with a total of about 11 hours track time, most fun I have ever had. Wish I had my Kaw ZX14 there. I will be back some day. Are you still in Germany?

I was on the edge of my seat just watching the vid, looks like the max gets pretty shacky at high speeds. Looks like a lot of fun.

That was sweet. During my time in Germany it never dawned on me to drive the Nurburging. I was in Heidelberg from 86 - 88 and on Saturdays in July they would close the 12 mile stretch of the autobahn from Heidelberg to Mannheim for speed runs. One year Goodyear tested a set of new production tires on a Corvette on that road. I was on the bridge and it was cool have it pass under us at over 160 mph's. I had a 77 BMW 320i and I managed to get it up to 105 mph. Thanks for sharing.

It is super noisy. The wind turbulence at the sunroof is rough. The car is stable enough. Stock brake setup was substandard. The red stuff ceramics with slotted rotors are trustworthy for stopping power.

Nice vid, dont get addicted, the 'ring will become expensive FAST. Soon you'll want brakes, suspension, then more power, start dealing with oil starvation

The 'ring>>>>>>>>>>Autobahn. Seriously its not even fun how far.

In all honesty its not all its cracked up to be1/2 of the autobahn actually has speed limits And like he said before there is a lot of traffic just going fast in a straight line is gonna get boring. 3/4s of the members on this site including myself(stupidly) have maxed our cars on the interstate its not that big of a deal.
