I know this topic has been discussed before and I looked at the old threads but many had dead links. I want to upgrade my stock fog light bulbs to yellow ones. I'm a complete novice when it comes to lighting so please forgive my dumbness. Are there regular yellow 35 watt bulbs available that are direct replacements for the stock bulbs? I would go HID but want to avoid the hassle of installing ballasts. I looked around and even stock Sylvania clear bulbs are 55 W, which supposedly can melt the housings. What is the easiest way to go about making my fogs yellow, like this pic below from an old post?

You'll never get that yellow look without HID's. These are close if you don't want HIDs.

I think you'll be fine with 55w fog bulbs. I had them for a little bit and didn't have any melting problems.

If you've read the other threads, you probably already know you basically have 4 options for yellow fog lights (from easiest to hardest, IMO):

1. Yellow H3 bulbs
2. 3000K HID bulbs/ballasts
3. Yellow Lamin-X film
4. Lexus capsule retrofit

I checked out eBay and the candle power site TallTom linked to and yellow H3's are only available as 55 watts. I think I'll just go with them but what's this I hear about the connectors on the 55W bulbs needing to be altered a little so they'll fit our car? What exactly needs to be done?

I did the Lamin-X film and Hella Optilux yellow bulbs on my 4th Gen.

They're pretty nice and the conversion is exceedingly simple.

55w bulbs are fine. I had them for years before taking the plunge on a 3k 35w HID kit. Just don't go higher than that. You should not need to modify anything to put the 55w halogen bulbs in there as long as they are H3.

+1. No modification is necessary if the 55W bulb is H3.

If you get an H3C bulb, then you will need to modify the OEM wiring from one to two spade connectors.
