SE tail lights in a GLE?

SE tail lights in a GLE?
I am looking to replace my stock tail lights on my 2001 GLE with the black lights from the SE. Assuming I find SE lights from 2000 or 2001 is anything between the GLE and SE housings different? I was researching it and didn't find much but on one site it said the GLE lights would fit in an SE but not vice versa, but that didn't make much sense to me...

They should swap right over. No problem.
There's a difference when you get into 5 vs 5.5 gen tails but it's just the bulb mounts. As long as you get the harness with the tails they're a direct swap too.
