No Start, no check engine light, Bad ECU?
Hey all, I could use your help, I've done a lot of searching but haven't found an answer.
I parked my 2002 I35 a month ago on a tender. Today I tried to start it, and it keeps turning over but won't start. It sounds like it sparks once every revolution but that's it, won't catch and start.
First thing I did is check the codes - but when I hook up the scanner, it says "link error" and can't read. I also noticed that when I turn the key to on (without starting), I don't have a SES light. I had no codes and no light a month ago before parking.
Is this a bad ECU? How should I test next?

is the red security led (in the clock housing) on solid while you are cranking the car?
Since you a link error with the scan tool, check fuses # 10 and 12. Both are 10 amp fuses. They are both in the dashboard fuse panel.
Fuse # 10 is in the top row, 2nd from the right.
Fuse # 12 in in the middle row, the end one on the left.
Otherwise, you will need to do some manual diagnosing. In order to start, the engine needs air, fuel and spark.
Unplug the MAF and see if the engine will start.
Spray some starting ether or carb cleaner or propane into the throttle body.
Remove a spark plug and and leave the ignition coil attached. Ground it to the engine, crank the engine over and see if you have a spark.

I've been through it and if the ECM goes without that code it may be an issue where the pins contact the circuit board. That's what the Nissan team tech said.
There are a few different computers in the car and for some odd reason the ECM seems to be the only computer that seems to cut out. Why doesn't the SECU or TCM ever cut out?
My position now yearsvafter driving it is just pull the ECU and test the continuity thoroughly. Then straighten out the plug and plug it in then sit it on the floor and try turning the engine over then .
Maybe the plug being pulled sideways then plugged in could cause it. It's twisted around and that could cause the issues.
