Corroded positve battery lead / grounding issues

So my 2006 Max went into some weird safety mode where it would stay stuck in 5th gear. Tranny shop ran diags on it and said tranny is fine but pointed to an electrical issue. Cited possible bad ground due to heavy discoloration of radiator fluid. My cables are pretty beat up.

So do I go to the dealer and get OEM? Where so I find cables specific to my Max? There's a specialized fuse thingamajig that's all beat up looking on the positive terminal - is that a requirement on the new set up?

Can the cable be replaced with an universal cable and not have the fuse link thing?
