DRLs on the 6th gen, which bulb is the best according to you?

I know I've asked a similar question in an old thread that was moved in the off topic, but I believe this question is actually specific to the 6th gen, and there is no answer elsewhere.

Considering the shape of the DRL reflector, I wonder if I should go with a tower bulb (like the ones used for parking lights), or with a powerful 5w front led model, with some side leds.

http://autolumination.com/1156_1157.htm

SMT Tower 30 :
30 High Powered Wide Angle SMT LEDS
These Bulbs have Advanced Surface Mount Technology LEDS + Advanced Patented Circuitry
25 high powered SMT side facing LEDS - 5high powered SMT forward facing LEDS

Or the Eagle eye 5:
Wide-Angle 180 degrees High-Powered 5 Watt Led + 4x super-powered SMT Leds
The most powerful led tail- reverse / back up light bulb ever made---1-3/4"" x 15/16" diameter
http://superlumination.com/images/au...56_5w_w_wm.jpg

According to the autolumination rep :

"If most of the light is forward facing at 180 degrees, the 5 watt will be a great choice.

If you have more reflected light, then the 30 LED SMT Tower would be the one to use."

Um ok, so, what do you guys think about that? I mean, you want forward light, but side light too since it's a reflector and usually it's made for a 1156 bulb. But then again, a 5w front led produces a wide beam of light that is probably, imo, as wide as the reflector...

Opinions appreciated.

Uh? First of all, they need to be on all the time you drive the car. They are mandatory in canada. So, I need visible DRLs.
2- I have them on all the time all day when I drive, so I dont want some cheap halogen yellow lights.

Why do people buy blue xenons? For the look. Well, LED DRLs will look better than halogen drls.

Honestly it's just that people in the US dont have these, or you guys would all change them to leds, trust me.

I wish the US spec 6th gen had them, I think they are a great safety feature. Unfortunately I can't help as I don't know what kind of housing it is. I'd say probably the eagle eye....

do we USDM owners even have an opening for it? I know it goes in that space on top of the fog, but does the housing have a whole for it and is there an extra wire?

No there's not even a hole, you can see the line where the socket would be but for the US mold they just left it filled in...

After seeing your post I looked at what both bulbs had to offer and I would have to say the Eagle Eye 5 are probably your best bet. I also have had the light housing apart and have seen how the reflector is made. Hope this helps

Yeah they are a major safety feature imo... but that's just me.

I'll try the eagle eye 5 and I'll take some before/after pics for you guys, as well as pics of my 4300K 50w xenon fogs in the headlamp.

Ontario HTA does not specify that they must be on. There is no charge for not having them. Other provinces may vary.
