Troubleshooting Codes

Hey guys I have pulled some codes using the HT200 bluebooth obd reader.

Vehicle is a 3.5 2004 SE sedan. Sports package and automatic transmissions. I have 140,000 miles on the odometer. The car has had two owners and been moderately well kept over the years. The car has been within my family.

Two years ago the car went into Fail Safe mode- and the cam shaft position sensor was replaced. The car went into Failsafe mode again the other week and since the battery was pulled from the vehicle. I then charged the battery and replaced the battery under the hood and started the vehicle and ran a diagnostic. The vehicle is currently NOT in limp mode/fail safe mode.

I pulled codes from the computer and the following codes are:
P0328 Knock Sensor
U1000 Can Comm
P1716 Throttle Control Sig
P0726 Engine Speed

I suspect the TCM is messing up and causing the other codes to throw. The knock sensor should be replaced at the same time...Does anyone have any other ideas or perhaps beleive that the knock sensor could be causing the issue?

I think the key here is the U1000 CAN comm. USUALLY this is a bad connection somewhere. Doesn't mean their isn't a bad computer or a bad sensor but I would check all the connections and wiring make sure the connectors are secure and no burnt, frayed or broken wires are noted. Diagnose Dan has some pretty good You Tube videos on troubleshooting with a VoltMeter and a scope. Of course, good wiring diagrams are handy too.
