2004 Maxima won't start
Our 2004 Maxima won't start. Nissan dealer #1 said that it needed a new Body Control Module. They replaced it and it still doesn't start. they said that their is an issue with the timing and that it would be an additional $1,600 to fix. I told Nissan Dealer # 1 to put back old Body Control Module and towed car to my regular mechanic. Regular mechanic said it won't start due to error code P1610, key needed to be programmed. Nissan dealer #1 failed to reprogram key when they put old Body Control Module back. Hired Locksmith to reprogram key, error went away, but it still won't start. My regular mechanic did basic troubleshooting, found no spark, no fuel injection pulse as reason for failure to start and said it may be the computer. Compression test was good. So, I towed the car to Nissan Dealer #2 (didn't trust Nissan Dealer #1 anymore). Well, Nissan Dealer # 2 also determined it's a timing issue and cost to repair will be $2,900 and there is no guarantee that the motor is still good. Estimate for new motor is $4,300. Any suggestions? Are there any Nissan Specialist in the SF Bay Area that can help fix this car? HELP!

aviator409 - umm about that timing chain rattling., you should look into it because it is serious, i just redid my timing chain a few months ago. the problem well the noise is, that the plastics that hold the chain in place and help provide tension were originally manufactured too week for the engine and eventually break allowing a tensioner to push off it and apply pressur directly to the chain which can and will break it causing you a great big mess, trust me ill post up the pics later on my profile so everyone can see them.

2007 Max /w driver preferred pkg
Bought my 07 in aug 2006 with 179 miles on it. Just turned 204,000. runs like new except a/c compresser went out this weekend. $1,000 fix for new compressor and low side line at dealer.

These are miles are they, rather than kilometres? How did you manage to put 40,000 miles on your Maxima in just over 4 months?
Good God! I am editing this because a couple of people subsequent to the quoted post are averaging 51,000/52,000 miles per year.
I have 82,9xx miles on my 95SE, 5-speed, bought October 1, 1994, and it looks and runs like new.

I think I might actually have the most miles for a 6.5 on this site.
Bought it with 14 miles on it, in June 07 and now I have 75K + on it. Still runs like a champ obviously. Spent some big $ on maintenance fees to keep everything in tip top shape. It's the reason I don't have rims or what nots on my Max yet.
