Remove old pads and be very careful to not damage the brake pad brackets unless you're provided with new ones..
Pry off brake pad brackets with a flat head screwdriver.. Take a wire brush and clean where the brake pad brackets were removed..

Picture of caliper slider bolts..

Bottle of brake parts cleaner..

Spray and clean brake caliper slider bolt holes, brake pads brackets, and caliper slider bolts..

Remove brake disc rotor by hitting it with a hammer and rotating the disc rotor until it loosens..
Spray down hub with brake parts cleaner after the removal of the brake disc rotor

A bottle of anti-seize lubricant..

Place brake pad bracket back on to caliper bracket and lube with anti-seize lubricant..
Also clean and lube caliper slider bolts..

Lube piston where it will touch the brake pads..

Place new rotor onto hub..

Remove rubber piece from old disc brake rotor and place onto new disc brake rotor..

Place caliper bracket and piston on the same way it was removed due to the lower caliper slider bolt..
Tighten caliper brackets bolts.. (19MM)

Place new pads on brake pad bracket.. The one that has a clip on it, goes towards the back side..

Props, man! Beautiful How-To and great photos. Only thing I might add is, when compressing caliper pistons to accept the new pads, you might want to slightly open the brake fluid reservoir (aren't those French the coolest with words?) in order not to damage it or the cap seal. And a question: the caliper slide bolts look about the same size, but they are differently machined. Any idea why, and whether it matters if you mix them up on the install?

Very nice write up and pics...only thing i would add for creatures of habit such as myself..... "don't forget to disengage the emergency brake when removing rear rotors or regradless of how hard you tap on them with a hammer, the rotor is not coming off..."

Are there really people out there who can't change their own brakes..?

+1 on opening fliud cap.

Alot of people say its best to scuff/clean the new rotor surface first too.

Very nice, any plans to change the brake fluid, it's usually one of the most overlooked fluids

Thanks for the write-up and pics! Good to know its very similar to doing my 20 yr old Toyota. More and more I see automakers turning DIY maintenance projects into stealership-only maintenance.

Anyone know who made the original rotors on the Maximas? I want to make d*mn sure I don't put another set on because my originals are warped at 35k !!

Great Job and write up, I personally would have detailed those grungy looking calipers though...

Do you have to remove the caliper bracket to just change the pads? My pads have 70k on them and about 1/8 of pad left. No sounds are coming from them but then again I see no wear indicators at all either. Where's the cheapest place to get OE pads ?

nah just remove this bolt the one with the wrench and pull back. its not necessary to remove the brake line clip as well. you can cheap oem ones at advanceautoparts. wearever brand cost 20 bucks.

Are the wearever's as good a quality as OE? I never had good luck out of pads from advance and auto zone, always squealed. I'm gonna try and not turn the rotors if I can help it. They don't look bad.

I got some C -Gold Pad at Autozone which are pretty nice. I did the front the other day with rotors and now I am doing the rear. I pulled on the parking brake while the old rotor was off and now I can't get the new rotor back on. The rear is more of a pain than the front. :-(
