Radio Compatibility

Has anyone used another year's radio (WITH THE SAME FEATURES) in their 6th gen? For example... The have a single disc 06 that failed and the only one they could find was one from an 04 and they used it and it worked? Any stories like that?

The car I'm working on here is a late production date 05 and the radios are just too few and too expensive, I don't have any other ones or I'd do the testing myself here, it seems I can get an 04 single disc radio at a reasonable price in comparison to 05's, but my computer says they are different... Has anyone experimented with radios before??

Asking for help in the 6th gen section? Man you must be desperate!

I probably would have put this in the audio section, to be honest...

Its easily done. Once you get the pin out you might have to do some swapping around but thats about it. Just double check you have the EXACT right diagram before you start splicing and swapping. Get an xtra harness to once you find one you want to buy just in case something goes awry

I would not think that the harness or the components would be any different for the 04-06 6th gen. Nothing but the transmission is different. You should be able swap your failed radio out with any 04-06 radio. Just make sure that you swap bose for bose and vice versa because then the components are different and the harness could be different. From the threads i have lurked through over the years about the failed cd player, be aware that the replacement may fail again.
