Drove 300 miles a half court of oil low; damage?

I changed my oil over the weekend, and only added 4.5 quarts, thinking that was the correct oil amount the car needed.

I pulled the dipstick up a few days ago, and saw it was essentially on L.

I added the extra half court, and everything is fine now.

I am surprised a half quart takes the oil from low to full, but I'm wondering if any damage was done to my engine, driving on low oil?

Thanks.

Don't worry, that's not a problem.

When you get down to one quart, THEN you start worrying.

4.5 quarts of oil is the amount needed to fill when you also change the filter. Without the filter change, it is 4.25 quarts.

That's low?

Low is the oil pressure light flickering (while driving), that's when you should start crappin your pants and replacing bearings.
