Rack & Pinion Replacement in 2007 Maxima

Upon investigation of a power steering leak in my 2007 Maxima it looks like I will need to replace the rack & pinion. Fluid is leaking out of the tie rod dust boot on the driver side, so it has to be coming from the rack & pinion itself.

My question is how much work is it to replace on of these assemblies? Any difficulties that I should be aware of? Also any brand recommendations - they all seem to be about $350, but I can't find much for reviews...

We do have a lift available to use, but nothing is easy on these cars from my experience.

Thanks for the input

I think your best option is to go to a local auto mechanic shop to have your rack&pinion replaced.

We replaced it last weekend. Getting the old rack out was the hardest part, but the whole thing took about 6 hours.

I wouldn't recommend even trying it without a lift. It would be pretty much impossible since you need to lower the sub-frame
