Advice needed please.

Gonna buy my dads 2006 maxima SL, he has around 130K on it and says it runs like a dream with only oil changes done to it. Its the Auto... are there 2 different types of auto trans for this car? I have heard all the issues with transmission problems and since he has yet to flush the tranny.... should that be done or will that start the dreaded tran problems? He says no timing chain noise/issues also. Sounds like a cream puff and for 5K It doesent seem like I can go wrong with this one. Thoughts from the pro's are appreciated. I have an 02 SE with 282K on it, wonderful car... just hope I can get that kinda use out of this 2006. Thanks.

You can. I have 250k on my 05. I would drain AT fluid and replace exact amount with K matic. Drive it a month. Do it again. If it shifts smoothly. Or you can get a full tranny flush which will be costly but also replace all fluid with K Matic. Should be fine. Also replace plugs and PCV valve. Check belts.

From what I've read, almost all 6th gens will suffer from the timing chain tensioner and guide shoe problems. Budget $1,500 for that. A/C compressors are also suspect as is motor mounts (front and back are electric!)

Not all suffer the timing chain tensioner issue though it is somewhat common. The mounts will go around 200k and the AC compressor is hit or miss. I had to change mine at 180k.

Thanks for all who replied... so far so good with this vehicle. Need some springs and struts from what I see/feel. Weird how the front gap is soooo large and the rear almost looks dropped already. Glad its winter so I have some time to research what combo's you guys are using....
