2007 maxima in limp or safe mode

bought car a couple months ago and it has 180k miles ran good but went into limp mode I changed the MAF sensor with cheap 16 dollar part offline It did not change any thing I unpluged sensor and drove car it acts the same with or without sensor hooked up could the new part have been bad too, Thanks for ant help I am new to any Forum this was bought for my grandaughter

Is the check engine light on? Even if it isn't, go to an auto parts store and ask them to read the codes. Not all codes will cause the check engine light to light up.

Was this MAF sensor new? I don't have any faith in a new MAf sensor that costs only $16. Getting one from a junk yard has a better chance of being good.

The MAF sensor is not the only thing that can cause limp mode, so get the codes read.
