Disabling factory alarm on a 96
Hey all, I've been having problems w/ my Gf's beater MAX. When we put the key in and try to start it nothing happens, you have no electrical controls or anything. Battery is fine, connections are good. I can physically hear a relay flipping when i try to start the car then everything goes dead so i know the car is saying NO! RIght now the windows are stuck 3" down from the remote control via holding unlock (by mistake).
So I think what needs to happen is bypassing the security system. Maybe my keys chip is bad?
any help appreciated!

Security system, such as it is, would not make everything go dead. All it does is blow the horn. Sounds like the car can't get enough current from the battery. Try taking the battery cables off the battery and clean the battery posts and the inside of the cable.

Here's the thing. I'm not sure if the horn is messed up or what? Its constantly blowing, thats how this problem started. The horn was going off, we were'nt around. The police supposedly came by and reached in the broken window which fell down, unlocked the door, then apparently unhooked the battery. crazy right?
So I have disconnected all the horn fuses i could find. And now when i start the car even after a fresh charge and the battery charger says its good...nothing. Thanks for the replies.
you know, the more i think about it tomorrow morning ill check the battery again. With the horn being a problem it took some time before i figured out where all the fuses were, and maybe the battery drained enough, it is a weaker battery...Thanks again.
I really need to figure out why the horn wont stop blaring...could something in the wheel be broken?

If the alarm is activated (horn going off) the car won't start. You need to either use the keyfob and unlock the car which will disarm the system or stick the key in the drivers door and unlock it that way.

Fuse # 64 (10 amp) is for the horn. It also powers the cruise control. The fuse is located under the hood in the box along side the left fender by the battery.
If the horn is constantly sounding and you like to drive using cruise control, you could leave the fuse in and either: A- remove the horn relay which is in the box right in front of the battery. The cover on the box tells you which relay is the horn relay. Or B - unplug the wires from the horns.
