I must admit the pics in the Motor Trend article left me a little flat. I'm a serious Maxima fan. The pics in this thread are giving me hope. I gotta see this in person.

i would have to say not a fan. i like some things but hate others. i hate the hood and the rear quarter above the rear wheel. that should be more flowing, no hard angles. headlights are terrible. could use some body work and would be more of a fan.

YES I loved those bulging fenders in the rear too.
I think it may be the roofline that makes it look lower to the ground than the current Maxima. Again I just got the impression they were trying to go back to the 3rd gen Max which imo was the nicest looking Maxima ever made.

I am sure it runs like a bat out of hell. But it looks to much like the New Honda Accord in the front end.

Having taken a long hard serious look at this car in person. I must say that the complete front end of this '09 Max is a total disaster. On the other hand, the '07-'08 Maxima front end is IMO, one of the most appealing Nissan has yet to build.

I fell in love with it the first time I saw it in person. Other day I was picking my current baby up from service and passed through the showroom. I offered to trade them my 07 for the 09...Didn't go so well.

VinneousMaximus - You're a little early with your trade talk for an '09 Maxima. But the time will come when the easy sales have been made, the days and nights at the showroom are long and lonely, and quotas still have to be met. THEN they will deal.

The new Maxima looks like an Honda Accord blended with a Toyota Camry. However, only the Maxima wins my heart any day over the other two cars.

Kevin - Have you seen the '09 in person yet? It looks so different in person than in the photos. Neither the Accord or Camry has the athletic Coke bottle shape of the Maxima. Of course that shape is not easily discernable in photos. But it sure stands out when you see the car in person. Also, the front of the Maxima has a very aggressive look that neither the Camry or Accord can match. For me, there is no comparison between the Maxima and those other two. The Maxima beats them in almost every way a car can be measured.

Actually, there was a black 09 that speeded across the streets near where I live. I happened to have a nice glimpse of what it looked like from the side and the rear. All I can say was wow. The Nissan dealership 10 miles from my house sold all 5 09's the first week it came so I really didn't get a chance to see them. However, they are expecting 3-4 more by the end of next week which I'm hoping I'll get a chance to see one before it's gone. By the way, when will test driving be available for the 09's? The Nissan dealerships in my area refuses to let you test drive unless you buy it. Does that mean you have to purchase the car first?

How can a dealership not allow you to test drive it unless you buy it?? Doesn't make sense to me.

That situation is nothing more than the dealer/sales manager/salesperson making a judgement as to which people are just wanting to test-drive the new Maxima and which people are seriously interested in buying. They do this because if several dozen people test-drive a new Maxima, then pretty soon, the odo has a few hundred miles on it, and it becomes a little tougher to sell to someone who is expecting a 'brand new' car to have six or eight miles on the clock. If used for too many test drives, at some point (500 miles? Maybe even 400?) the car will have to be sold as a 'demo', which definitely reduces the price.

But there are many dealers who were allowing test drives from the first day the '09s arrived. Just depends on the dealer.

At first I thought it looked stupid, but as I looked at it more (in person), I decided that I really love the way the new Maxima looks!
