I've owned 3 Maximas and all three were mine, as in I pay/paid for them.

17 years old in 2001 I had a 1995 Maxima SE 5 speed (had leather, roof, BOSE. etc.) sweet engine

28 years old in 2012 I bought a 2007 SE with only 30k on it, the previous owner was an OCD maintenance freak with enough money to do the factory scheduled A maintenance. I'm a car salesman so when my customer traded it in, I scooped that **** up ASAP.

30 years old now in 2014 I just bought a Sport/Tech in Gun metallic and I think it's the best thing since sliced bread. Never owned a new car before, even though I've sold hundreds of people new cars and saw their euphoria. Love the wheels and the blacked out lights. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise, the regular Maxima wheels and interior make it feel like an old person's car.

44 going on 30

Age is just a number, a silly one, but I'm not surprised the majority of owners are much younger then me.

It really is a sporty car for its size, definitely makes me feel young behind the wheel. If I drove an Avalon, I think I'd feel the need to wear Depends, chug Ensure, and gum supplements by comparison.

Im 20. My first car ever was a 2001 Buick Century. Drove that thing for 4 years. Just went into the market for a new car early november. What I was looking for in a car
- V6 Engine - 4 Door - Low Milage (under 70k) - Under $18k -

I looked at many hondas, kias, hyundais, I was even tempted to buy my dream car for $30k, Subaru Impreza WRX STI. The subi was obviously out of my price range. I looked at all the honda's, the interior was great, the down side was the exterior was...well...feminine to me. After looking at just about every common car on the market I had settled I wanted a nissan, because when you think about the body styles

Masculine Body Style Feminine Body Style
Nissan Xterra Honda Pilot
Nissan Altima Honda Civic
Nissan Maxima Honda Accord

Thats just my personal opinion. Therefore I wanted a nissan over a honda. Either way I know I can easily get 200K miles out of either one as long as I take good care of it. I almost bought an Altima, long story short, I got screwed over. Found a really nice maxima and I couldn't let it go to anyone else, I took the test drive and knew it had to be mine. The leather, moonroof, the luxury alone dragged me in on the maxima

I have a loan on the vehicle. However I am the only one on my loan. Never had a credit card before or anything and only paying 1.99% intrest on it.

Why no RWD sports sedans?

Do you have school debt as well? If yes...

You are like 50k in debt at age 20? :|

I love the look of the maxima and the feel. It drives smooth. And its as fast as I need it for the driving record I have. I had limited options because I needed to make sure I could afford the insurance. ($246/Month on this baby)

And 50K?!?!?! How much do you think a 2010 costs?!?! Walked out the door with the price at $18K. Talked them down from $22K

oops!!

Well apparently I voted age 59 or somethin...
28
Had GMs so far: 94 Olds Cutlass Supreme, 96 Geo Prism, 89 Cadi Coupe Deville, 95 Olds Cutlass Supreme, 01 Buick Lesabre Custom (PGA Tour Edition, ooooooohh).
Lesabre was my first financed auto back in 2010 (terrible choice with no alternatives).
Started lookin for a NEW car earlier this year, wanted a 2014 Impala bc of panoramic roof and dual exhaust, found the Max with every option i wanted and jumped on it . Impulse on 11-6-2014, Love it...

Had to face reality and trade in my 530i when the the standard higher mileage issues started to lead me down the road to the poor house. (BMW = Bring Money Withya lol) I eyed the Maxima market and trolled the forums for about a year until I found exactly what I was looking for and jumped on it. Always loved the style of the 7th gens, but was on the fence about moving back to FWD and the debated CVT. So far I don't have any major complaints and am pretty happy, especially every time I look into doing a mod and it's something I can DIY and/or the price tag has one less zero compared to the beem beem :-) I wouldn't compare the two cars apples to apples, but so called downgrade is a farrr cry from going from filet mignon to hot dogs, and I'm very happy I was able to make the move.

Much love to the forum, your insight, experiences, and knowledge helped me take the plunge with confidence. I look forward to much modding in the future.

Welcome Stooop32. You are wise to make the adjustment to keep your finances in order. This poll also is kind enough to lump all Maxima owners over age 70 into one group, so I have remained in the same 'age group' for over a decade, and will still be in that same age group after I pass age 100. I like that.

I wonder if Maxima owners who registered here as say age 28 five years ago are still counted as being in their twenties, when, in fact, they are now rolling along in their thirties?

Fun to read back through the lists of prior cars owners have had. Seems like the Maxima attracts the type of person who likes the special or sport models of cars, that most people simply would't care about.

Personally, I am 33, my car list from high school to present is:

1) 90 Probe GT- turbo 2.2 5-speed, loved it, thought it looked like a redneck ferrari with the stick on factory cladding. Hated the automatic seatbelts.

2) 90 Beretta- 3.1 auto, didn't care for it it did the job. Sounded like crap when I had a sport muffler and straight pipe put on.

3) 94 Thunderbird SC- 3.8 supercharged/inter-cooled with 5-speed. Was a torque monster after moderate modifications. Was kept in storage most of the time while I was in school to keep the miles off. Sadly, I had to drive it in a light snowfall one evening and I slid into a median on the highway at 45-50mph. It never ran the same and started having problems after that.

4) 2002 Focus ZX3- solid commuter car, but terribly slow and boring with automatic trans.

5) 2000 ZX2 SR- 5-speed. Handled like a go cart (factory installed suspension kit, chip, clutch, muffler) and revved to near 7k. Very fun car cause I could wind it out and not be going fast enough to get in any real trouble.

6) 2009 Camry SE V6- first "adult" car purchased brand new after I was done in school. No complaints other than seats were uncomfortable and you saw them everywhere. Faster than you think it would be, with better mileage than I expected. Also rock solid reliability and I never got a ticket in that car although I deserved some.

7) 2003 Mustang GT vert- fun car for family, settled on auto since I daily drive it in summer through stop and go traffic and found one with only 20,000 miles on it. Currently debating whether I should purchase a Kenne Bell 2.2 supercharger or leave it stock and upgrade to one of the new models in a few years.

8) 2014 Max Sport- nicest car I have ever owned (not counting my wife's SUVs that I don't get to drive- you know how that goes), nice stiff suspension, luxury interior, comfortable seats, nice body lines. Gives me the premium look/feel without the premium price tag/repair costs. I thought it was one of the best looking cars out there with the black Sport rims on it. My boss, who drives an LS460 and could care less about "regular" cars, even commented on how nice it was on the inside.

It also helps my OCD personality to own a white Armada with black rims and a white Maxima with black rims. What can I say I like them to match!

55 years of age. Many different cars but most memorable are 1970 Datsun 240Z and 92 300ZX turbo. Now own second straight Maxima as first was 06 manual.

Surprised, looking at the attached chart, how many of Max owners are young. I wouldn't think that this car would appeal to anyone under 30 or 35 years of age

Finally got one...

Interesting to see the spread of ages. I'm 41 now and I remember my grandparents had a Maxima, 1984 I think. I thought it was awesome because it was the first car I ever saw that spoke..."door is ajar", "trunk is open", "lights are on"...all in a sultry female voice. Very cool when you're an 11 yr old kid!
I've wanted one ever since and I finally got a 2010 Black on black, dark tint, tech package with paddle shifters...closest thing to a race car I've ever had!

Glad I found this forum and looking forward to contributing when I can...Peace!!

Bought a 2012 SV Sport yesterday and the first thing I need to do is replace the
idiotic 4DSCdecals on the rear side windows with OFCC (Old Farts Comfy Car),

BTW, tuned 72 in January and have owned numerous real 2DSC's in the past 55 years including my present '84 SEC coupe.

I am 19 but I am not buying a maxima until feb. of next year so Ill be 20 by then. Has to have premium package. I've been saving and working my butt of for this car. Have been searching information on them for a month now, cant get enough of them. Then I found this whole forum filled with you great people.

Will probably be on here all the time as February comes closer I'm sure I will have plenty of questions for you before I buy.

In hot weather it's possible you lose HP. That draws hot air from under the hood which reduces power.

I bought my 2014 SV Sport in Brilliant silver a week after my 21st birthday. My first car was my mom's 95 Altima and in 2013, after I shortly turned 19, I purchased an 07 Altima 3.5 SE. Had no intention to get rid of my 07 Altima so soon, but my job (the dealership I bought my Maxima from) offered me an awesome deal on my Max so I bit the bullet and went for it. I always wanted a Maxima ever since I was little, but never thought I would have one so soon. I am blessed to have this car and plan to keep for a long time. I get so many compliments from it. I'm a die hard Nissan fan.

20 here. Got the car cosigned with parents (have a job and paid a good chunk) a few months before my 20th birthday Sept 2015, a pearl white 2012 SV 45k miles for 18k (NJ). Replaced my 2003 Max GLE which I loved and started driving at 16 and brought it from 120 to 170k miles before the alt died and decided to junk the car after expensive climate system replacements the year before made it a moneypit.

Poll results

I'm 23. Love this car. Went from a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO to this and wouldn't have changed that if I had a chance. I finance this vehicle for the time being as I bought it with 13,000 miles on it. Ended up being a pretty penny. I'm also in training to be a police officer at the moment.

Age is just a number!

I'm almost 46 but I don't look a day over 30 and I've driven alot of cars/trucks/cycles but this is my first Maxima. Other than a BMW (which I don't want to call a luxury vehicle as if the engine catches fire, the whole thing goes up fast....no luxury there!) Maxima seems to have more features than I've ever had.
My first car was a supped up Gremlin that got 6 miles to the gallon.
I've had (if I can remember...lol)
2 AMX Javelins,
GT Torino convertible,
BMW 316 and 320,
Dodge Charger,
a green hatchback (who knows what it was),
Chevy Berlinetta Camaro (loved it until T-boned at 50mph by someone who ran a red light - made the news....,
Ford Thunderbird super coupe,
Ford Explorer,
Chrysler 200,
Dodge Journey, now a
Maxima SV.

(my motorcycles were Honda)

I don't discriminate.... Would I be wrong to say I'd like a Cadillac? One day that is going on the list.

I'm 62 and driving my 4th Maxima, 2014 Super Black with Premium Package. I've had a 1st gen, 3rd gen, 5 gen and now 7th gen. I loved the 1st gen ('84) with the straight 6. 5th gen was a great car. I'm just getting used to the 2014 as I bought it used last month.

I'm 21 (next week) and have had too many damn cars, all sponsored by myself; however I had a 95 maxima GLE (goldie), then max my 2003, then buzz my 2003 Infiniti I35, and my current 13 sport Cole..... I had a Hyundai sonata LX V6 2006 for four weeks and sold it because I hated it, so does that count as ownership????

Bought my 2010 Maxima SV back in December when I was 24. Well...was isn't accurate, because I am still 24 til 10/25 lol. Got it for 14k at 88k miles. I've been immersing myself in the DIY lifestyle. Planning on making a Nismo 'B' edition of my car, codenamed "Koto"

EDIT: it was either the Maxima, or a 350z (my absolute dream car) or the 370z. Was able to afford all of them used, but ended up going Max because of the space.

EDIT 2: It's also my first car that I've bought with my own money.
