How many people change trunk struts after spoiler install

I'm thinking of adding a spoiler to my 2014. On my previous 2010 I added the spoiler but always thought the trunk was hard to open or close. I don't get it since the spoiler doesn't weigh much. Anyway are people changing the struts as well? I like the ease of opening the trunk effortlessly especially when the hands are full.

So new struts? Or is it possible my 2010 struts were just done and not working properly

My Max came with the spoiler installed from the factory because of the Sport model, but regardless the trunk only lifts so much. I still have to reach underneath on the actual trunk to pull it open. I sometimes use the little pull tab and forcefully pull it downwards so it will actually close, but most of the time I will just push down on the actual spoiler to make sure it closes the first time around.

It is not recommended to open or close the trunk by using the plastic chrome piece above the license plate. A factory worker from Nissan on the 7GM Facebook page said the flexing of the plastic can create a gap enough to trap water and cause rusting around that area.

There is actually a plastic tab (grab bar) on the inside of the trunk lid that you are supposed to use to pull the trunk half way down to close. Once halfway closed you just push the trunk the rest of the way till it latches...

Yes, I stated that. After the fact once you have it halfway, people will still pull down the rest of the way using the plastic chrome piece or open it by pushing upwards against that chrome piece.

Doesn't seem like the new shocks would make much of a difference. And I'll be honest I use chrome lip to open and close. Never thought much of it, but that makes sense and will try and avoid doing it

Installed a spoiler about a month ago. No new struts. Trunk opens no differently than before. Don't think the spoiler changes the weight that much.

Ya my 14 opens with a finger tip, but I can't remember if my 2010 was the same before the spoiler install. I'm going to assume I had something wrong with the 2010s struts causing the trunk to be alittle difficult to open.

I bought my spoiler from and had it installed by the dealership in case anything leaked etc I have someone to hold accountable. At any rate the one from Nissan came with new struts and they installed them. Mine before and after requires some effort to open and close so I guess what I'm saying is who knows. Maybe they're needed maybe not. Clearly the spoiler doesn't weigh much. My guess is it's a money making thing.

Awe man, U wanna hear a bone head mistake I made, last night when I was ordering the spoiler I somehow managed to order the stupid lip spoiler from spoiler king. I realized this in the morning when I checked my email. I know it doesn't sound logical, but I had the oem, stillen and stupid lip in my cart on Amazon saved for lata.

I was pretty tired so I added the wrong one to the cart and hit place order.I also had about 6 other items in my cart so it's an honest but stupid mistake, lol. Of course it's too late now to cancel it. I emailed the company and Amazon and they both said I need to return it when it comes in.

I know I'm not going to like it, because it won't look right. However I am going to check it out and prop it up there, post some pics here for anyone that might be interested with what it would look like with the lip.

Obviously my post at 8am was prior to realizing this

Aww man, got this lip in the other day. Going to test fit it later. First glance is it's very subtle, but I don't know how it's going to look with the shape of maximas trunk. I will be the first to give this a try since I have yet to hear of someone adding one nor have I been able to locate a picture
