Help!! Slip indicator light!!

I have a 2012 Nissan Maxima. The check engine light is on. And while driving the slip indicator light comes on. And it jerks hard when pressing gas. Like it's not getting fuel. If you slam on the gas. It does nothing. Only happens when the slip light comes on.

Break out your owners manual, I vaguely remember reading something in it about a certain issue if the slip indicator light came on. I can't check mine at the time to verify or confirm my suspicion.

If the check engine light is on, reading that code will greatly help in the diagnosis of your issue.

Any auto parts store should be able to do that for free.

If you actually provide the code, we can offer more help.

Mass Air Flow sensor code.

Do you have an aftermarket intake, or stock? How many miles?

Did the problem just start out of the blue or did someone work on the car? Maybe they disconnected the MAF sensor?

Is it possible someone messed with any of the following recently?

Check the following for connection.
• Air duct
• Vacuum hoses
• Intake air passage between air duct and intake manifold

You would need to check the items I mentioned. Not sure of your troubleshooting ability but here is a link to the FSM. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Maxima/2010/EC.pdf

If none of that helps you will probably need to take your car to a mechanic.

Maybe your dealer can help, someone stated:

I just called my dealer and they said that it is covered under 8 year / 80k (ballpark) warranty for ECM reprogram. I will make an appointment and keep you guys posted.

Check your brake fluid level. Low brake fluid and/or worn brake pads will trigger the slip indicator warning.

That is correct.

Had mine done at 79,700 miles by dealer when the problem started

I have the same issue, with it going into limp mode. I would also check your CVT fluid and/or have it replaced. When fluid gets too hott it puts in limp mode if you pull over n shut car off for a min or two it should go away for a while. The brake fluid thing is deff true as well.

So after months of dealing with tranny limp mode I checked fluid nice n clean and topped off. I didn't get why it was happening just started thinking well guess I got 1 of the junk cvt transmissions. So before I took to a transmission shop I put a transmission cooler on and have not had issue since figure I'd share that bc I know how frustrating it is and dangerous it is.
