Should I install the filter with the airflow arrow towards me or away from me?

If your filter has a pull tab on it then it goes in the bottom of the housing and the tab facing you.

Head of the arrow indicates air flow direction.... points towards the cabin...

Other than the pull tab issue (some aftermarket filters don't have this) the direction of airflow is not important UNLESS you have managed to remove the old filter and are, for some gawd forsaken reason, going to re-install same filter after cleaning the big chunks.

The new filter media works the same regardless of direction of airflow...cheap activated charcoal ones being the sole exception.

As you pull the old one look at the directions of the fins. I think Nissan really messed up locating the cabin filter by the passenger foot in a cramped space. Gggrrrrr

This is the worst design ever. I wouldn't even mind taking **** apart but this is the worst place to locate the CAF and you don't even know if its in there correctly as it's like a black hole!!!!!

Take a drop light into that black hole with you and the job is so much easier.
