You can't. Our vehicles Bluetooth does not support the function to play music. You are only able to use it for call functions only. Sucks they Diddent incorporate it.

when i bought my 2012 limited i got contacted by nissan for the survey they ask all new owners to do and i slammed them for that, and the fact that there are no usb ports and the locations of the charging ports they are in the worse places, inside the console and inside another compartment. such a stupid design, when i complained about the no charging usb port their come back was everything was capable through the blue tooth option, but i have not been able to make it work that way either. it is driving me nuts, i am almost ready to take my 3month old ride and trade it in for a car that has all those tech needs that seem to come standard in most other new cars standard.

on a different note, they were talking about on here about commercials for maxima, i just wish they would take that money and put it back into the car! cause i am surprised to see what was offered package wise with this car, they made so many different packages to compete price wise, i would of paid the money if i knew how bad the tech issues would be....i wanted performance-tech-good brand-and leader in the market and that is why i bought my first nissan----starting to wonder if i should of bought a loaded versa for 15grand cheaper, at least i would have the simple bells and whistles that should be standard at this point in the game, OH before my tangent, know the honda odeyseey commercial i swear they were ****bagging nissan in that commercial---the cubic zarconia tech package----you have to upgrade!

You can stream music through Bluetooth with my 2012 Maxima. This includes music on your phone and from apps like Pandora (can't control Pandora with car however). However, I believe it's only available with the Tech package, which I have. Mine also has both the USB and Aux ports inside the center console. It just depends on what option packages you have.

Oh ok I see... I have the A/V port in center console along with the USB. I actually just looked at the package options on the Nissan package you have to have the tech package for that. I guess that answers my question lol

My 2012 streams music just fine over blue tooth. I know that the 2009 doesn't support this feature.
At some point between 2009 and 2012 they started supporting blue tooth streaming. I don't know which model was first. A2DP is the protocol needed to stream music over blue tooth. It's as simple as updating the firmware I think...I don't think there is a hardware issue but I could be wrong.

If you have a 2009 Maxima and want to stream music go and by a BlackBerry Stereo Gateway and you can than basically in the center console thing connect down there and will only draw power when the car is on and your phone will pair and you can wirelessly stream

You can still play music using BT adapter. I recommend the tune2air WMA1000 from viseeousa.com. It is a very simple device but works flawlessly. Stream music via bluetooth, can also play, stop, next and previous using steering wheel controls. I have mine and I am completely enjoying it.

(For 7th gen max) check out a device called bovee 3000, its a small Bluetooth transmitting device that plugs into the factory ipod connection in your center console. Works great and almost never cuts out.
you can control (pause play skip return) with your steering wheel and on screen controls, but if you're using an android OS or other non-ipod operating systems you wont see a song or artist title preview on screen.

I have the sports package and mine has the connections in the lower compartment of the console box. You have to raise the upper part to see the connections and charge port.

I have the base 2010 Maxima. I ran a cable from the Aux-in to the fuse box, then hardwired USB 5V from the fuse box to a Homespot receiver that sits in front of the fuses and switches on and off with the car. Costs $35 all-in, works as well or better (supports AAC and AptX) than the factory setup.

If it's not too much trouble could you post a picture of what your fuse box looks like right now? Thanks for the response.

Nevermind, I got it all sorted out. Bought the Insignia Portable Bluetooth Audio Receiver. Plugs into the USB port for power and into the AUX ports for audio and everything fits nicely in the center console.

I have tried the Bovee VMA 1000 with no luck. I have a 2010 maxima without nav. I have power coming from USB input in console and also got connected to my phone but the stereo won't recognize the device. Any tips?
