The commercial car had a trunk deck-lid spoiler that this red one doesn't.
And it looks like the lower rear bumper trim might be different. Not sure.
Also in the commercial, the wheels are pretty tucked. Not a very appealing look.
Here's a pic of the car from the commercial:

Is that a full panoramic moon roof I see?
Looks sooooooooooo much better in red with different rims.
However, boring circle exhaust pipes are boring.
I hope they will have a sexy navy color with a darkish brown leather interior.

The Maxima in the commercial was maroon, this one is red.

I'm liking what I see so far, just hoping they don't drop the ball when it comes to the powertrain. I'm looking forward to it's debut at the New York Auto Show this April. Hopefully someone leaks the full specs before then because, personally, I cannot wait.

The car in the commercial was the same red shade as in this new red photo. I knew from the start that Nissan would NEVER be putting maroon or plum color on the 8th gen Maxima. The twilight and unusual lighting used in the ad really did make the car look maroon, but I used filters and watched the ad dozens of times, and finally saw that the rear of the trunk on each side of the license plate, lit by the white license plate light instead of the strange floodlamps lighting the car overall, was actually red.
Those waiting on a Maroon 8th gen will still be waiting when the 9th gen arrives.
I REALLY like the wheels, which show up much better in this new photo. The wheels on the car in this new photo are symmetrical, balanced and beautiful.
EDIT - Further proof that the car in the ad is red? The red car in this new photo has RED taillights, but the floodlight filters lighting the car in the ad turned its taillights PINK.

When you offer a single choice- there's nothing to compare it to. Regardless, if Subaru can use a CVT effectively- then Nissan needs to catch up and offer more than VQ/CVT/FWD variant?
Damn near half their line up offers the exact same drivetrain.

it was completely stupid to stray away from the tried and true traditional automatic trans thats been perfected for 30 years that you can get good fuel mileage with providing it has a variable displacement pump and then suddenly move to CVT to gain a smidge better mileage yet have constant problems

im in the industry, all the transmission guys ive talked to have said cvt were a flop. Some have estimated cvt might even phase out because of the problems theyre having. Everytime we get a nissan with a blown cvt trans come to work we send them to the dealership to get it replaced under warranty

Can't Wait
Have a 2000 Max which still runs quite well and looks good; however gonna wait till late this year to upgrade to the 2016 Maxima; still debating whether to get this of a 2015 Grand Cherokee later this year

Looks like a KIA.. I think this thing's going to be like the gen 6, it has no AWD option and will cost a hefty penny
POLITICS... CAFE blah blah

Or that Consumer Reports has big red circles(best) or red half circles(better than average) for major/minor transmission problems going all the way back to to 2007(first year of the CVT)??
Or that they(CR) also have big black circles(worst) for 2005 and 2006), the last year for 6MT and traditional automatic???

The car is FWD. ALL FWD cars, the wheels are more inward from the fronts. The effect is even greater when lowered, hence the reason most end up using rear spacers, because the rear wheels almost disappear when you lower it.
I guarantee the rear wheels will not be as flush with the rear fender as shown in the original pic, and will look more like the commercial.

Granted, I'm not a mechanical engineer, so feel free to correct that interpretation.
Come on man, it's a Maxima. Expect the rims to be flush, and you will be disappointed.
You have a strange definition of the word symmetrical.

How does this look like a Kia? Why are people reducing this car to a Kia? Can someone, anyone, post side, rear, and frontals of the new Max and whatever Kia they are comparing this to? I would really like to see what other eyes are seeing.

From what I can see the Renault Laguna is long overdue for a refresh. I am encouraged about the prospects for Nissan and Renault being able to share the development expense associated with bringing a new product to market. Nissan pulled this off with the 4th gen for the Maxima, Cefiro, and I30 back in the 1990s. If they can do it again, well then more power to them.. I think Europeans like cars with more conservative lines so that may be the reason for the difference. The trunk and rear roof slope and shape sure look like sister cars to me.
