How much did you pay? *new car shopper*

$32k for a platinum?? I would be Leary....something doesn't add up.

Just picked up a Platinum version w/mats and splash guards the other day to lease. With the Nissan incentives included, my cost on the car I figured was about $34.9k (about $4k below dealer invoice and over $6.3k below MSRP) with an imputed interest rate on the lease of less than 1%. I priced around central CT and think that was the best I was going to do.

I generally agree on the 0 down. I figured I had to pay first month's either at purchase or shortly after anyway, so the other ~$1,600 wasn't a huge deal to me (most places wanted $3-4k down) and wanted to keep my payment at a certain point (understanding you can use the money you don't put down towards future payments anyway). I shopped around numerous dealers in the area and the deal I got was the best I could find. Curious to hear deals from others in central CT.

First, my credit is as close to perfect as possible. Second...no need to be nasty. Third...as I asked, please show your math, not just your answer. My calculations are vastly different. I also haven't seen anyone get a Platinum for $2k down and $320/month (others correct me if I'm wrong).

I got my SL, which listed for $39,805 for $385/mo incl tax, 0 down, true sign n drive, and that list is close to a base platinum list price. I leased that when the lease cash was only 2075, now you have 2750, and extra 675, which would lower the lease approx $20/mo

Just curious...what was your residual % on the lease?

Yes, seems good to me, roughly about $1,000 better than I did. Just curious...what part of the country are you in?

I also got 19500 for my 2015 VW GTI SE 6mt, which was above book value. That car went through 2 clutches and was put back to stock after being stage 2 for 16000 miles. It was trapping the quarter mile at 115mph.
The dealer had to auction my GTI and they broke even on it, so I really got lucky.
It helped that I went the last day of the month and they needed numbers. They wouldn't let me walk away, and I didn't want to, but I guess I played the game pretty well. This is my 11th new vehicle, but my first Nissan. I've had...
2001 VW GTI Vr6
2004 Subaru WRX
2005 Subaru Legacy GT
2007 VW Passat
2009 Subaru WRX
2011 Hyundai Sonata (got married)
2011 Kia Sorrento, see above
2012 VW GTI (divorced)
2014 Toyota Avalon
2015 VW GTI
2016 Nissan Maxima
I am thoroughly impressed with the Maxima compared to the Toyota Avalon. It's more luxurious and sportier, yet it rides smoother even on 20" wheels. The only thing I miss from the Avalon is the paddle shifters, but I rarely use manual mode because the car seems faster in auto. The only time is use manual mode is to downshift when slowing down from a high rate of speed.
The interior of this car is ahead of it's time and in a class above. I looked at a 2014 Audi A6 and this interior is nicer. That car cost over 60k new.

OK, I sold my 99 Maxima SE three years ago and the need for a new car has me on the lookout for a deal on a leftover 2016 SV.
The best offer I have so far is $30,820 (MSRP $36,910), which assumes I use the $2k incentive and finance with Nissan at "conventional" rates. I have no idea what that rate is, but I have a FICO score of 800+ and can refinance at 1.99% with my credit union if need be.
Is there more wiggle room for me at this point with a discount of $6,090 below MSRP?

I was talking with an underling today and am going to try to work on the manager tomorrow. I'm already getting annoyed with the negotiations so I might just try to wrap things up tomorrow either way.

Well, the manager wouldn't budge so I agreed to the above deal. The initial quote on a similar 2016 SV from the dealership where I took the test drive was ~$2,200 higher, so I gave up on that rather quickly.

2016 Maxima SR, 9k miles fully loaded immaculate condition $29k and offered the most for my trade in then any new car. Lowest SR anywhere near me was $34k brand new and offered $2k lower for trade in so was a difference of $7k, I'll take that with just 9k miles on it. Sticker was $39k New

New owner here, couldn't be more excited. I keep looking into the driveway going "really? That's my car?"
2016 SV in Deep Sea Blue, 3M package and some other stuff. Had to go to 5 dealers to get the price we wanted.
MSRP was $36,185, and our OTD was $30,100, got them to throw in the all-weather interior as well as truck mats. If anyone is shopping Nissan around Charlotte NC I've got a phenomenal dealer recommendation!

I'm in Charlotte and would love to know who your dealer was. Thanks!
Also is now the time to buy a 2016 or would waiting a month or two be better due to the 2017s being fully on the lots then?

Another consideration is that the current $2k incentive on 2016 models ends on August 1st. I'm assuming that something similar or better will be available in August, but you never know what Nissan has in mind.
