Illuminated Kick Plate Installation
Just some friendly information to all those out there that want the new Illuminated Kick Plates installed on their 2016.
Had the dealer install these last week...it is a 3.5 hour installation and requires the glovebox, console and radio to be removed.
This is required to have the passenger side wiring to be plugged into the harness behind the radio.

I do appreciate this information, as it is beginning to look as though I may have to have this done after buying. I expect this to be around a $425 to $475 dealer install, while the MSRP for having it on the car from the factory is $350. So much simpler to install this as the car is being built.

New kick Plates are Too expensive
this is my 3rd Max. the 2010 I spliced into the lights using the instructions posted on this site. the 2014 was a breeze just plugged into the connectors supplied by Nissan the 2016 when I reliezed how much work was involved or cost to pay the dealership as noted above I bailed out. then it dawned on me the 2016 has the same kick plates that my 2014 did? so I popped them out ordered the old style from ebay and installed them in two hours using the 2010 method.
may not be the new font but same fit and function and $175 total cost. just my 2 cents how I tackled this issue!

But you only saved $400.00 and kept the dealer from messing up your entire dash area. . . . . Oh, wait!
Thanks a bunch, wyobbagy.

That is a 1 1/2 of labor and don't need to remove a radio. There are 2 accessories plugs one of each side . You need to but the accessories male plugs at the dealership to hook the plates, then in the future you can tap on the same plug to do the ambient lights and out side security lights .

I had purchased the kick plates online from my dealer. Picked them up and tried to see if I could install them using the old method of tapping into the footwell. Connection was good, but didn't work. Wound up bringing it to the dealer to have it installed and they needed an additional part, accessory harness connector, in order for them to work. Cost me $350 in total, but they look good. Probably not worth it, but at least all four match now... nothing worse than having front aluminum, and rear plastic kick plates...

The plugs are only 29 each , thats crazy my Sr had front and back all aluminum. the link i post it shows step by step and how install any factory accessories is simple.Attachment 9846 to bad you guys are not and az so i can help you guys by doing for 🻠Lol . I like to help my nissan people
That's really interesting that you had all aluminum kick plates on your SR. Did you have the illuminated kick plates installed from the factory? Or perhaps the SR comes with different parts. The stock front kick plates on my SL and our Platinum were aluminum (same as 7th gen) and the rears were both cheap pieces of grey plastic! At 40k+ that's a lame corner to cut.

Hey Guys,
I just picked up my 17' Maxima on Monday. She is a beauty.
Anyone have the illuminated kick plates installed? Is it worth it? Any pics??
I got the external ground lights which look great installed at the dealer.
