Not sure about other states, but I assume the same. Nissan dealers are not allowing delivery/take home of any Maximas as there is a QC issue they need to tend to on all stock.

I was ready to grab one today until I got the same word from every dealer in northern California.

Details please! Mine came with a bad battery, but no other issues in 1,400 miles.

I'm in LA and gotta stop by my local dealer this weekend. I'll confirm the validity of this and report back.

It's all dealerships. I just stopped into my dealer (Iowa) and talked to my salesman. He said they were notified by Nissan yesterday (7/17) that they were not allowed to even show the new Maximas until further notice. He said a woman was coming to pick hers up yesterday and he couldn't let her take it off the lot. Nissan told them they had to wait until July 27 for more information. He also said there were no recalls yet (I checked too) and if it is a safety issue they would have to call them all back in. He said he would call me if he gets anymore information. Stay tuned...

Thanks for the heads up. As long as the car doesn't spontaneously combust, I'm not stressing.

I just spent 25 minutes in the phone with Nissan Consumer Affairs (800-647-7261) and they couldn't find any information about this at all. Including their supervisor.

My dealership in LA doesn't have a record of this yet. They still have 8th gens on the lot for sale. Doesn't mean the recall isn't true of course.

You don't think Renault continues (did) some cost cutting to turn around Nissan?

Naive much?

2016 Maxima Stop Sale

My dealer in Massachusetts called on Friday and said I could not pick up my new 2016 Maxima as planned. Nissan told them to stop all delivery and sales until further notice - no reason given. I checked a dealer in Rhode Island and same thing. I emailed Nissan Customer Affairs and they had no clue what is going on. Said they would "research it" and get back to me in 5-7 business days. Sounds really screwed up if Nissan can't provide any explanation. Not yet sure if I will just cancel my car purchase.

I know more than you think. We'll just leave it at that.

What bugs me is your constant negativity. I'm sure you never plan on buying one and you just get your kicks hanging out in here being negative. Quite annoying.

I have spoken to three dealers this morning. They have no knowledge of sales being suspended.

John91945...which dealer in Massachusetts are you dealing with? The three that I spoke too have no knowledge of this issue.

Looks like there are a couple of possibilities.

1) It has to do only with the dealers that got cars that may have an issue.

2) They didn't have time to call everybody on Friday and the rest will get called on Monday. My dealer said it was a phone call from Nissan.

3) It's a marketing stunt - doubtful, but why wouldn't (or couldn't) Nissan Consumer Affairs or Marketing tell us anything about it?

There is something funny. Now, when I go to the owners portal and click on Manual and guides, it no longer shows me the manuals for 2016 maxima, only up to 2014. It no longer has an option to click on 2016 in the year drop down like before.

There's speculation that there may be an issue with the moonroof.

The Massachusetts dealer that contacted me and suspended sales is Village Nissan, North Attleboro, MA. I also called Tasca Nissan, East Providence, Rhode Island who confirmed they too have suspended sales.

New Info

I just got this reply on by Facebook (8th gen Maxima page). I didn't mention that my dealer told me the 27th also:

Quote:
I wouldn't worry about it too much... We'll know more on the 27th. More than likely there is a known issue and there will be a recall coming out. 2,823 intransit and dealerowned vehicles are affected by the QA hold.

This also from the same guy:

It hasn't been made public yet. They should be putting out a bulletin about it on the 27th. I would be patient until then and see what the bulletin says. My lot only has 2 cars affected and we stock quite a few of them. I work at a Nissan dealer in the parts department.

Yes, see the "Drive Computer Resets" thread (still on the first page). New car battery fixed the issue. I reported it to Nissan Consumer Affairs. Maybe I started this whole issue!

8th Generation Maxima (2016-)

Thanks, btw that was a good catch. My salesman called me and told me that a guy in Atlanta wanted some feedback on the new nissan connect services, at the time i didn't have time to drive the car, but I heavily tried it out while on vacation, on the trip and here, they do have a quite a few issues here, I work on aircraft, and this navigation system is like setting up multiple flight plans, and they went overboard on features that really is not operable from the app as describe, I literally pushed every button and tried all selections from the app on my phone and called sirius and nissan for information, and they really don' know, some things an I will be calling this guy tomorrow with a list of things like the google maps, I was getting different routes to come up but my phone would come up with even more routes, I was trying to type in a route to walmart in that city that I was in an it kept giving me a route for one in another city 20mi away, hopefully this is software update issue. I'm doing my list now, Im putting a list together now after driving it for 30 hours on vacation, and in the Smokey mountains, I am still very impressed, love it but a few things I think can be better. But anything you need to now, let me know i'll try to help.

Yes, I too have noticed that searching for a destination via connected search by it's name gave me useless results, as the suggestions averaged anywhere from 250 to 2500 miles away. No local listings.

I am unable to receive incoming phone calls [ won't pick up ] . Outgoing is fine. Don't know yet if it's the setup. I will be stopping by today to see if they can set it up for me.

I've also noticed that the response time for the phone app is slower than for the 7th gen. I find myself sometimes jumping the gun on button pressing.

Sales on hold in Northern VA as well

I have been following this thread since it started. A co-worker went to a dealerships (Pohanka Nissan) over the weekend to test drive the Max. All the Maxima's were taken off the lot. A salesman came out and told him there was a recall and they were not allowed to sell any. Salesman also told him that the issue was the headlight after he spoke to the service department. I searched my VIN over the weekend and did not find any active recalls on the car.

Something is definitely up. Hopefully this memo on the 27th will give us some answers.

Guys I have both, android and Iphone, by far the iphone was the hardess to figure out but it now works pretty good for my wife and my kids ipod touch, with the iphone, make sure no one around you have on any bluetooth devices on or running if so have them turn them off, of course turn on the bluetooth and the bluetooth on the car, go through the pairing processlet the car start the scan first, then start the phone to scan if the car sees the device by name, at first it will say something like unable to pair with device if the car have some one keep calling the iphone, the car may see (your iphone) it but you wont be able to answer it it only rings to your phone, if this happens, and this is what happened to me is at that time shut the car off, then shut the phone completely off, for 3 min then turn the car on, the power your phone back up and go to the BT menus, and have someone call you, this is what worked for me now my wife can play her music and receive phone calls and have it read text sorry no facebook, but realize I stay in south GA and took a trip to TN and I literally hit all the buttons on this and yes it does have issues and most of the selections dont show until the car is stopped
