Saw a white SR today. Think that was the first white one I saw. Was with a friend and I had actually mentioned that I was thinking about trading in my Altima, but don't want a car note. Then later on we see it and I point it out and he said they really changed it up, but he liked it. He was at one point looking at getting a last gen Maxima.

I've seen three in Birmingham, two near a dealership (one didn't have tags). You can't miss that front end and running lights!

I'm with you on the car note- have mine paid off for 3 years and I'm looking for a GREAT deal to make the note low as possible. That 1.9% for 60 and the discounts I'm starting to see make this a possibility but I'm not doing some big monthly payment-did that on the 7th gen and it wasn't fun.

As usual, my wife and I parked our silver 2016 nose up to a high curb and row of shrubs and light pole around 300 feet from the Kroger store today. We do that so some Bubba can't simply drive up in his wrecker, slide his lift belts under the front bumper and tow our car away (that happens to FWD cars in the backwoods south).

Came out of Kroger around an hour later, and found a red 2016 Maxima had parked in the next aisle (just beyond the shrubs), exactly facing our Maxima. There was no other vehicle within sixty feet of either of our Maximas. We got in our car and drove around to the next aisle to check the dude out. He had a Platinum with Tennessee dealer tag with expiration date of 5-16. That almost had to be the first 2016 Maxima I sat in and walked around for over two hours last May at my dealer's 8th gen Maxima intro. I had talked to the guy driving that car (he works for Nissan) for quite a while last May. He lives in Norcross, which is around 70 miles northeast of that Kroger.

I would have waited and chatted with him again, but the lines in Kroger were a mile long, and I wasn't even sure he went to Kroger, as there are several restaurants in the same shopping center.

Sort of a strange feeling seeing the first 2016 Maxima I ever saw in person sitting right there in front of me.

LOTH I'm still not in an 8th gen yet, but I've looked at the car at the dealer a few times. Just wanna make sure I get the one I want. I'm also very interested in getting the payment I want, trade in I want, etc.

I did see a 2016 blue SR and a 2016 black platinum on the road last week. both looked great.

I've had my SR for a week now and I'm getting so many looks out on the roads. Couple of people have commented on it. I was in Houston for several days and didn't see but one. I admit the attention it gets feels pretty good...

I've had mine for five months now and had not seen another one on the streets until this week. Good feeling to have to only one around.

It is good to not be rushed into major purchases. By late December, cold weather will be fairly widespread, and showrooms will not be very busy. Plus, the deadline for sales quotos for the year will be fast approaching. I got a good deal on my 7th gen by doing that.

The Dec 31 'deadline' is not totally firm. Bookwork can be manipulated, so dealers can have a way of closing a sale within the first few days of a year and have that sale count toward their quota for the year just ended. That is what my salesperson did. You will have good leverage, because every day a Maxima sits unsold on a dealer's lot is a day he is paying for the expenses associated with a lot space with nothing to show for it.

Be sure to get the car you want. My last four Maximas were actually on other dealer's lots, but I found them on the dealer inventories on nissanusa.com and had my dealer go get them and move them to his lot.

Good luck with your process.

Saw a dark Blue 2016 Maxima on Thanksgiving morning traveling on route 50 east between Lake Geneva Wisconsin and Kenosha. This is my first "in the wild" look at another.

Entered a dead-end court in a new subdivision today. Car sitting there with driver looking at the same house we were looking at. Driving a car exactly like the brilliant silver 2016 Platinum we were driving, except he did not have the black with chrome bar rear valence diffuser we have. At the time we saw that car, wifey and I were still talking about the white 2016 Maxima (exact version undetermined) we had just seen while driving past the courthouse, and commenting that we had not seen another 2016 Maxima for at least a week. Then two in ten minutes. Sadly, that may be our quota for this month.

I see a few dealers showing MSRP 38k SL for 33,500- what is the best I could probably do if thats the internet price? I would think going in at 32k even would be a good spot to begin negotiating.

The salesman will most likely tell you before you get to talking price that their "internet price is unfair to them because the dealer would never let it go for that price and its just used to bring people in which then makes most of them angry to begin with."

According to Autotrader the invoice price of an SL for a Dealer is about $34,530 (google). Realistically they won't sell for less than this, but any NISSAN incentives should be applied AFTER you agree to a price on the car.

How do you like your SL? What color combo and options did you get?

I'm loving my SL. These don't really come with options, but it came with the carpeted mats, trunk net, truck mat, and splash guards. Got the dealer to throw in a set of All-Season mats during negotiation.

Gun Metallic with black interior.

So far I have only seen one other 16 Maxima on the road, but it was on the same road as my dealer so I'm not sure if it was just out for a test drive or not.

I have a grey 7th ben or id go with the gunmetal- it does look great. I'm leaning towards a white/charcoal or silver/charcoal. I think SL is the perfect combo of price and options. Do you feel like you're missing any of the Platinum level options?

The 360 camera view seemed pretty cool, but I didn't deem it necessary, I'm swapping my low beam halogens for HID, wasn't interested in the Driver Attention features, do not like the wood trim on the interior. Any other features I didn't list were not even on my radar.

I agree- I dont like the wood grain look and the camera or the upgrades leather isn't worth it to me. The HID upgrade- would the dealer do that? That is the only upgrade I would want to do on the SL but i don't want to mess with a brand new car myself.
I notice a few SLs have the 18" wheel upgrade. I may ask about doing the 19" black SR upgrade wheels on the SL.

I will be doing the HID upgrade myself, its fairly simple and straightforward. Just need to find a location to mount the ballasts.

I feel like I'm derailing this thread, so if you do have more questions perhaps a different thread would be best.

I don't live far from the dealership and I am constantly seeing the 2016 models. I'm in Houston and I have seen many but luckily I have seen very few Platinums and even fewer Pear Whites which will be the color I am getting. I like it that way!

Anyone see this $356 a month with $2299 down lease offer on the Platinum? Looks like one heck of a lease deal- its on the nissan payment calculator on the nissan website. I have never leased but thats tempting. I know you can bargain a lease also- so I wonder if $300 is doable.

Also see $336 month with $2999 down.

Then again with trade I can probably work the SL down to $356 and own it- but thats still a nice deal.

I'd rather pay $400/month with zero down, but that's just me. Always thought you're better off putting little or no money down when leasing.

If you can afford to lease you can afford to buy - lease = rent and at the end of the deal all you have is memories and nothing to show for it...

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum. I just got a super black SV and I have seen an older woman driving a Pear white SL. +1 on the old people as well. I'm 28.

Lets put this in perspective. If you trade cars every three years, there is a good business case for leasing. The net depreciation is often more than what is declared at the end of a 3 year lease so you are getting a guaranteed residual value. The same is not true if you buy and trade at 3 year intervals. You get what you get on a trade in value. And the "memory cost" is the same or more for the outright buyer. If you plan on keeping the car longer, than by all means, buy it at the beginning! Either way depreciation gets all of us in some way so the car is not really a great asset to park a lot of money in.

Yesterday was exactly NINE MONTHS since the release date (June 3rd, 2015). I think Nissan/dealers are ready to accept that very few folks are interested in paying anywhere near MSRP for anything. It will be good to see more 2016 Maximas on the street. I know my 2016 gets a lot of looks. Some folks probably don't like the styling, but I am assuming that those folks who spend several minutes looking at my car (I can see them from inside restaurants) must be finding something interesting.

You may want to better understand the mechanics of leasing before you make that type of statement. Recently Nissan has been setting residual values above what the book value of the vehicle will actually be come trade in time. Therefore, all things equal, you will then pay less than what the car actually depreciated.

If the residual value is equal to the book value at lease end, you break even and can purchase at that price. Or even better, if the book value is higher at lease end, you can win big by purchasing for a price less than value.

Please explain why purchasing 3 years of a cars life, with purchase options, is not the way to go.

many websites do the lease vs. buy- but the bottom line is it depends on each individual person wants needs and situation. I like to buy because I like to pay a car off and keep it- but i also have been looking at leasing the8th gen as it may fit my current situation better. I think there is no one right answer.

If you do the math - buying to me has always paid off in the end because I have something with equity to sell or trade when moving to my next car - JMHO

I use the surround video every day and the rear sunscreen in the summer is a must have - well worth the added cost! Whichever you choose have fun with your new ride!!
