Rocker Panel Question

Has anyone installed their own rocker panels or know if they are easy to self-install?

I got them dealer installed and it took them maybe 15-20 minutes of actual labor. The spoiler took them much longer. I'd assume if you knew what you're doing you could knock them out in 30 minutes or so.

I'm trying to understand also how you can have those and the underground lighting on the car. It seems like the rocker panels mount to the same spot the lights do. It would seem that where the panels mount underneath would cover the LEDs. I'm driving a 2014 loaner car that the dealership gave me while they hold my 2016 hostage for the recall. This loaner has underground lighting and the lights are mounted very close to the frame edge underneath the car.

Can you take a couple pictures? Would to see how this is mounted and where the wiring goes and is located. I'm wanting both installed too.

i have both factory installed on my sl the molding stops 1/2 in short of the LED ground lights. the ground lights are installed into the actual rocker panel would be a major undertaking to add them. the rocker molding bolts over that and only hangs under by 1/2 as well. that looks
like it wouldbe a simple install since it just overlays the rocker panel

Thank you very much. The dealer is going to install the ground lighting for me. I plan on buying the rocker panels and installing them myself. I just needed to be sure it was a simple install and that it wouldn't affect the LEDs. Thanks to your information, it sounds like it will be just fine.

I found and downloaded the rocker panel installation instructions here:

http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/TSB/T...spx?tsbType=AI

It calls for drilling some holes underneath for each rocker panel. I don't quite know how I'm going to get under there with a drill due to the low clearance. Too bad I don't have a car lift.

I bought a Milwaukee off set adapter for my cordless drill 48-32-2100 got it at Home Depot for about 20 Bucks....comes with a bunch of bits hex drive bought a 1/8 hex drive drill bit have used to install mud flaps(without removing the tires) and rear diffuser .....would do the trick to drill under the rocker without lifting the car.

I installed my rocker panels today. It took about 45 minutes, most of which was spent figuring out the first one. The second one took about 15 minutes. If you don't have a way to elevate the car, you MUST have a 90 degree drill to do this. Even with that, I only had about a half inch of clearance between the back of the drill and the garage floor.

I think they add a nice accent to the car.

Rocker Panels look great! Really adds to the aggressive look of the car.

Do you mind sharing what 25% off code you have and for what site?

Here's the web site: parts.nissanusa.com

Here's the code for 25% off: estore2015

Hopefully they are still running the deal.

Ends 1/31/16. I was tallying the costs for a spoiler and rocker panels and this just saved me a bit.

I have ground lighting, I was told by the dealer that if they install the rocker panels then it will block the lights... Is that true?

That is absolutely NOT true. The ground lighting was installed by the dealer on my SR. After I got the car, I installed the rocker panels myself. There is no overlap or blockage of the LEDs.

You can see one of the LEDs here. The yellow arrows demonstrate the edge of the rocker panel under the car.

I hope this helps. Tell your dealership dudes that they are clueless.
