Need some help finishing up a 3.0 4th gen overhall
Guys I am finishing up a complete over hall on a 3.0 and I cant get this thing started, I got it cranking, only things not hooked up are power steering and belts and a single ground wire that is on the drivers side front wheel well. I cant find or figure out where that went for the life of me, so I am getting no spark, defitnally a huge fuel smell so i dont forsee that being an issue. I've checked power to coils, thats good, I didnt have signal to the coils until i realized that my crank sensor on the tranny wasnt tightened, and while i was at it checked the other crank sensor n cam sensor, they are all good, so now I've got ground, signal, so i am in the process of figuring out the ground situiation, To be honost with you i dont remember what function on the multimeter you use to check contounity to ground but I did try a few different ways and all ways are pointing to no ground on that circuit. My stupid hanes manual wiring diagram is absolutly no help in this situiation as it doesnt have connector locations or anything of the sort. Anyone come across that ground wire that goes to the body, its maybe 10" long and has a small black connector on the end I need to find out where that goes and if its related to my problem. Any insight anyone might have would be greatly appreiacted, Thanks.

I would make sure all ground connections are made, I'm not sure which ground wire your refering to that isnt connected but I'm sure its needed. Ground it somewhere, it doesn't have to be where it was originally grounded.
if you have or can take pics that will help alot.

thats funny ...when i did an engine swap that is the thing that stumped me. couldn't figure out why the starter would not crank...that connector to the starter....its always something small. look through all your connectors. miss one and you will be scratching your head a while ...get a volt meter too to check all wires if you have too. misc ground wires are important.

it goes to a little tab on the transmission, it's back there a little ways attached to a case bolt
clean it, connect it, check the two by the intake manifold and the bigger one that goes from under battery tray to the mounting plate by the front head. if you're still having trouble go here even if thats not it just read through that thread and you'll def. gain some insight towards what it could be
