Help! Installer used stock BOSE amps on aftermarket speakers!
I went to get speakers installed in my car and have the BOSE speakers and the deck adapter removed. Well they removed the adapter and put the speakers in but left the amps and hooked them up to my new Crystal speakers because it made them louder. Since the BOSE system ran at 1 ohms is it going to hurt either the deck or the speakers to be hooked up to the amps? The installer told me that since the deck is running at 4 ohms that the amps will also so it should be ok, but I am worried that it won't. The speakers also give off a faint hissing sound now also how can that be corrected? Any help would be appreciated Thanks.

Update
After driving around for awhile I have noticed a few more quirks. The sound is distoted at the high treble sounds, it sounds like Eminem had a bad lisp . Also my attenna is up all the time now even when it is playing a CD and it didn't used to do that. I know these speakers should sound better than they do. I need help, the car is gonna go back to them tomorrow no matter what I just need to know what tell them to do. Help please. Thanks.

sounds like you have some issues here. As far as the aftermarket speakers hooked to the bose amps, it should not harm anything(if done right). The amps are designed to handle a 1ohm load, but as long as it doesn't go under 1ohm it should not blow. Since the new speakers are 4ohm, then your amps are safe. As for the speaker, it sounds like you are distorting them(not saying you, but they are being distorted). Running a 1ohm amp into a 4ohm speaker will only give you 1/4 the power rating for that amp. This will make it easy to distort. Distortion is one of the main things that causes a speaker to blow. Did you have a new HU put in also? If so, that could explain the antenna staying up all the time. He probably hooked the power antenna to the remote wire on the radio, therefore it will be up whenever the HU is on. If you do have a aftermarket HU, you're best bet is to run speaker wires from the HU back to the speakers and get rid of the amps. Personally, it sounds like this installer doesn't have a clue. just my .02 Good luck.

Its good that it won't harm anything but it still sounds like crap. Where should the attenna be hooked up so that it doesn't stay up all the time? And it does seem liek they have no clue and this will be the last tiem I use them for car audio install.
