Lamp bulb in the climate control... replacement?

I don't know, after installing my headunit, I noticed that the "Mode" and fan speed control button don't light up anymore. I took it out and looked in the back... I found the bulb. I tried looking at it, but I don't know if the filiment inside is broken or not. Why is there a blue cap on top of the bulb?

Do I just get a replacement from dealershiP? If so, does anyone know the part number or something. Thanks for the help.

try taking it to radio shack to see if they know what kind of bulb it is. radio shack has a sh*tload of LEDs and mini bulbs. i'd rather go to radioshack then getting screwed over by the dealer. not sure about the blue cap though...maybe to make it glow blue behind the gauge?

The blue condom on the bulb is used to distiribute the light evenly thru the cluster. If you take it off, it will almost work like a LED distributing the light in one spot. As far as replacing the bulb, it's not hard, but will take some time taking the unit apart to get to the circuit board. You must take the buttons off the front first, and the cluster should just pull apart. You can go the route of replacing with the factory bulbs, or the radio shack bulbs. I'm not sure of the Radio shack route and certain experiences people had with them, but I replaced mine with the factory bulbs, and WOW what a difference!

Each bulb were a different price. I believe the bulb near the fan speed **** was the most expensive, about $8.00. The other ones ( 2 or 3), if I can remember were about $6.00 a piece. It's been a while since I replace these, since I no longer have my '95.

The blue condom is for the white looking light, take it off and you have a different color light, more of a dull light look, just as bright, but more of a yellowish/orange. they are 12V lamps, radio shack was no help to me when I was replacing them, they thought it was an LED You should be able to get to 2 of the lights without taking the buttons off, the light for fan speed will casue you some trouble, need to take the **** off.

Climate Control Bulbs

I just replaced two of these yesterday. I believe you can only buy these from Nissan as the actual bulb can not be removed from the plastic "screw" it is attached to, though this may be incorrect. I didn't try taking it apart, just sucked it up and bought two from Nissan, 5.30 each

Once the dash is apart and you are holding the climate control unit, there are four small screws on the back of it. Take those out and you will have access to the back of the circuit board. I would not use a screw driver to instal the new ones, and they will strip very easily. I used a pair of pliers.
